I don't have aphantasia, but my ability to visualize things is poor. Like "picture an apple" ok, there's an apple, and it's gone in less than 1 second.

That's interesting.

I can visualize things and hold it, zoom in and out, rotate, relive memories, create new ones, etc. Although, I do have moments (like just now) where if I really try to force myself to visualize something, my brain will try to stop me. I think it's like writer's block.

I can also, and this one's harder to explain, look up at the stars at night and try to take myself off the Earth and towards those stars. It's like I'm trying to imagine and reach out past the edges of the universe. It legit causes a physical feeling. It's not dizziness, but it's in that realm. It's pretty cool.

Whoa. Yeah, you're like 5/5 for imagining things. I'm like 2/5. The only good thing is I can say the grossest things on earth and people are like "eeewwwwwww!" And well, sucks to be you people who can visualize stuff really well. I don't see it.

I can do better if, say, laying down with the lights off, and eyes closed or such. Or if I'm high.

You're got me very curious.

If you're watching a video and someone does something super painful, do you wince because you imagine the pain? I do, mostly when it's unexpected, and while I do not feel the pain, I imagine it enough that there's a physical sensation that kind of like a jolt combined with a tingle.

Yeah, I do cringe when I see pain. That's mirror neurons though, not visualization

I was just curious about the physical sensation part.

I wince, but I don't "feel" the pain. But a... memory(?) of the pain, if I've felt it before, comes to mind.

So, so much we still need to learn about the brain and body.
