Bleh. Another unnecessary remake.

That's a smug little article that likes to tell you how morally superior the writer is to you.

Making Johnny Storm black is stupid, and it's not because of racism. His sister, same mom AND dad, is white, and the people they're thinking of casting for that role are white. So yeah, unless mom's been fucking a black guy on the side it's stupid.

Unless Hollywood plans to rewrite everything, because that has ALWAYS worked out well...

Make both Johnny and Sue black and you avoid the problem. In fact, here's who you should cast as the Invisible Woman.

The real question is are they casting a black guy just to cast a black guy, and hopefully bring in black audiences?

Here's your new Fantastic Four.

It has brought a collective "meh" from the parts of the interwebs that I've seen.

Also, according to this article the script has gone through several re-writes and writers, so it's easy to see this being a bomb.

I recognize none of those motherfuckers. Why did they greenlight this if it's only going to suck again?

Make the Thing transgender, too. Just to be inclusive.

Well, it is already a "thing."

The next Superman will be a tiny Asian lesbian that identifies herself as male.

Marvel might cancel the Fantastic Four series?

Obviously the editor there says that's not true, but really they could pull this off easily. The FF isn't a big seller.

Even if you discontinue that series, they can still guest star them in whatever the fuck they want.

Well, Fox has the rights to the characters, not just the title.

If Marvel is going to do this right, they should kill off the characters, and leave them dead for a while.

Interestingly, Marvel's current "event" revolves around the murder of The Watcher. He happens to be one of the characters Fox has the rights to...

They're also going to be killing Wolverine soon. No seriously. They have severely fucked with his character (no more healing factor), and it's already been announced that he's dying this fall. He won't stay dead of course, but still.

Here's a really good analysis of the rift between Fox and Marvel.

Heard from the movie rumor mill that this new movie will basically have nothing to do with the Fantastic Four. Michael B. Jordan even did an interview where he said the script was constantly changing, as if that was a good thing. (Hint: It's not.)

Meanwhile, certain folks can't wait to lavish praise on the filmmakers saying what a breath of fresh air this will be and other kiss ass things.

Why buy a property if you're not going to be true to that property? Why not just create your own property and not worry about giving another company your profits? Oh, because of the established audience? The ones you've already bored with two lackluster films, and who now know you don't give a shit about canon? Yeah, comic readers just HATE canon...

Yeah, comic readers just HATE canon...

Not nearly as much as the writers.

It just boggles the mind.

They're a business right? Bottom line is to make money right? Why do everything you can to piss off the only people who are guaranteed to see your movie.

The Fantastic Four are fucking dull. Nobody gives a shit about them. Their comic series does terrible numbers too.

If Fox was smart, they'd figure out some way to get Marvel to buy back the rights and just walk away.

I expect we'll see some form of that after this new movie comes out and doesn't do as well as they're hoping.

I watched the FF movie with my kid recently.... it astounds me they could make a superhero movie so dull.

The writer/producer speaks.

I find it interesting how he discusses the film. Never saying it's good or great. Never saying people will love it. Etc.

This movie is so universally expected to bomb that I think it now has a chance to surprise people.

Doctor Doom is a bit different.
According to the actor, Doom isn't a doctor this time around, and his given name isn't even Victor Von Doom, it's Victor Domashev. Apparently he's an "anti-social" programmer who's online handle is "Doom". He's also an Eastern European living in America and Kebbel tried to give the character an accent to reflect that.

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

At this point I have to hope that they're just trolling people.

io9's more hate filled article on this subject.

You're seriously telling me that they're taking one of the biggest villains, who happens to be a dictator, and turning him into an angry forum troll? Hilarious.

This movie is going to BOMB. Also, have you noticed that the movie comes out next year and we've seen nothing for it? No trailers. No teases. That's not a good sign.

If I see someone I know coming out of this movie in the theaters, I'm going to punch them in the face. Not to be mean, but because I will assume they like to inflict pain upon themselves.

Fox might be trying to trick folks into thinking this movie isn't a disaster.

They've already locked down a sequel date and they've had another director under contract with them watch it and publicly tell people it's good. He said, If you liked Chronicle, you'll like this." LOTS of folks point out that's not exactly a glowing review.

Other people are still saying they're re-shooting and as recent as a year ago were looking for a new director to take over the whole project.

First trailer will appear before Kingsman.
