ok. didn't know I clicked into a spoiler thread. Maybe change the title so it doesn't look the same as the other Star Wars thread from the front page. I really don't wanna see spoilers.

I don't know how to make it more apparent without making it unsearchable.

If we had updated board software, maybe we would be able to mark spoiler threads in some way?

Maybe put the word Spoiler in the thread title?

Why the hell was Brienne of Tarth in this movie? To sell shiny action figures? She could have easily done any of the cool things that were handled by a regular storm trooper. Kicking Finn's ass with the chainsword, maybe?

Love Finn, Love Rey, Love Kylo Ren.

The movie spends large portions ignoring the laws of physics regarding light traveling through space.

It was already there AND the subtitle.

I think Stranger missed it because he didn't come in through the Movie forum link, but instead just came in from the most recent topics via the front page of the forum. That only shows the first few words and not the entire thread title. Thus, I've changed the order of the words.

Still, should probably encourage folks looking to avoid spoilers for ANY movie or TV show to not use that "most recent" link and instead come in through the Movies, Television, Books forum link.

Exactly. :)

Looks like there's real talk starting in here so I'm out until I see the movie. Have fun!

No big surprises, a few issues with "really, the bad guys didn't find them" and getaways, etc... but normal movie stuff.

It was awesome. It was like a big ole feels party of the first movie(s), plus better pacing, writing, and acting.

To demonstrate the diversity of modern stormtroopers?

Well, I called that Finn wasn't the Jedi and Luke's role, although I didn't see him not showing up until then.

I like that we don't know who Rey's parents are yet, but it seems obvious she's a Skywalker.

Loved Kylo's villain. If Lucas thinks he's a good writer all he needs to do is compare Kylo to Anakin in his third prequel.

I think Captain Phasma is being setup for future movies. To be fair, Boba Fett wasn't really in the movies much, yet look how popular he is...

I think we need to wonder if JJ is a genius at resurrecting franchises or if he's simply good at rehashing stories. I actually went to IMDB to see if he was a writer on Superman Returns.

Watching the original movie with my kids, I really wonder if I would have loved it as much now, seeing it for the first time, as I did as a kid. This movie felt like the fulfillment of what that first movie could/should have been for adults. From what my friends have said, their kids loved it too, so no doubt we'll see an episode 10-12 some day.

I think it might be too violent for my kids at this point (5 & 8), though. They still haven't seen anything but the original movie.

So ummm.... does the giant planet space laser.... have to move to a new star every time it fires?

And was that Coruscant it blew up?

And... why was it "The Resistance" fighting the Imperial remnants, and not the entire Republic? Was The Resistance funded by the Republic, or what? If so, seems like they would have more resources than one base and 20 X-Wings.... since 20 X-Wings was all they could seem to muster against the... you know... giant planet-sized death ray that can take out an entire solar system with one shot.

I took the post trilogy republic to be analogous to the league of Nations. Nominally in control, it with little authority or ability to do much. Weak enough that the bad people could rise up, and good people realized they needed to do so.ething o. Their own, outside of the republic.

The dumbest part of this dumb movie is that they cast Lena Dunham's goofball boyfriend as a Sith Lord.

I literally cracked up laughing in the theater.

I thought they did an awesome job with how Kylo Ren's voice sounded through the mask.

Apparently Thib is talking about the show Girls, not the real life guy you've googled there Gordo.

If you looked I googled exactly what Thib said.
