Well, that's new. There's a long-standing history of allowing fan productions as long as they aren't for commercial release. This one is not even the biggest and most well-funded.
I wonder if this is the first step to shutting them all down, or if this one had something in particular about it they decided to fight against?

JJ claims he got the studio to drop the suit. Says it'll be announced within the next few weeks.
He made the argument that stuff like this should be celebrated, not punished.
