A Will Farrel "comedy" in which he plays a guy who gets fired from his job and comes home to find his wife has left him and put all his stuff on the front lawn.
This is a "comedy" in the sense of that Bill Murray "comedy" from a few years ago when he plays an American actor doing a commercial in Japan, meaning, it isn't a comedy. It is sort of depressing but still has a couple laughs in it. Come to think of it, there's even a reference to making Japanese commercials in this movie.
Anyway, it was ok, but if you go into it expecting Will Farrel doing Frank the Tank, you will be disappointed.
Everything Must Go
Will Ferrell in a serious movie. He loses his job, house, wife, and sobriety in a single day. This leads to him living on his lawn while on a journey to climb out of the mess of his life.
It had its moments, but overall was pretty dull.
Listen, Ferrell was great. He actually showed range in this film. Not great actor range, but I'm not completely ridiculous outside of a comedy range.
The rest of the acting is fine too, but the story is just meh. It's almost like the movie is an inside story that you're only seeing bits and pieces of. Most of the characters aren't really explained and nobody gets an ending. Nobody. Not even Ferrell. In fact, the movie just ends in what seems to be the middle of a scene.
If you're crazy into dramas, give it a viewing just for the discussion here, but otherwise skip it. Also, don't buy the comedy-drama tag. There's no funny at all.
