2014/2015. Actors and Ridley Scott are signed but there isn't a script, yet.

Featuring an entirely new character who doesn't understand how circles work.

I just hope that chick goes to their planet, or base, or whatever, and kicks ass.
I remember a lot of running away in Prometheus.

I'm going to use this comment as a basis for a new post in the spoiler thread. I've been thinking about this the past couple days for whatever reason. Think I saw the flick in the TV Guide whilst setting some DVR recordings and it spurred something from my memory.

I consider the Alien franchise dead.

But after four (he has conveniently forgotten the ‘AvP’ movies), I think it wears out a little bit. There’s only so much snarling you can do. I think you’ve got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we’ve found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start.
Ridley Scott, you are a fucking idiot. You have lost touch with everything that once made you cool. Go made a sci-fi romantic space comedy with James fucking Cameron, traitor.

I was pretty disgusted when I saw in the additional content of my Prometheus bluray that the movie made a lot more sense originally, but they cut a lot of scenes so it wouldn't make as much sense, on purpose.

It's going to be a whole new breed of alien.
And you'll see it in the third act...
This movie just sounds terrible. I mean, this is "Let's make a Superman film only he doesn't fly or wear the iconic outfit" level of insanity.

I hear you. You'll probably end up being right.
However, I will hold on to a small hope that they will finally, properly, do, "And here's something else interesting happening in the Weyland-Yutani universe." Every Marvel Universe movie is not about Tony Stark, they figured out how to tell other interesting stories in different venues. I will hold out that hope, here.

You need fresh blood in the director's and writer's chair.

Ridley Scott will <s>direct</s> pull a James Cameron and piss away any remaining legacy or respect he has working on the three, count 'em, THREE sequels. Perhaps his characters will discover the great mystery that is the right angle.

The next Alien movie.
I'm not sure how he could make it sound more boring.

Is this a documentary about how badly the series has been fucked since the first sequel?

Merged since Prometheus 2 has become Alien: Paradise Lost.

Argh. The hell? I thought he said he was done murdering the entertainment value in this franchise.

Ridley Scott thinks cinema is bad. Loves streaming.
However...
We followed up by asking him if he was concerned that streaming services threatened the film industry and whether the popularity of television now is a concern to film directors. “I’m concerned about the fact I want to keep doing cinema, and I hope it doesn’t stop,” he replied. “I hope it doesn’t stop for those of us who keep making smart films. I’m hoping it doesn’t affect me. But I think we have to watch it.”
Emphasis mine. Mr. Scott, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Prometheus SUCKED and was about as far from smart as a film gets. I mean, in the words of Penny Arcade:
And that wasn't even the dumbest thing in the film.

I think it gets thoroughly destroyed in our spoiler thread. But yeah, fucking awful. Hilarious, though, considering that dude is averaging one decent movie per decade since 1990 and he already had The Martian last year, which started to bore the hell out of me whenever it wasn't Damon trying to play colonist.
