Hawkins has been put in charge.
I had no idea that Shane Black played Hawkins.

Predator 2, Alien Vs. Predator, AvP: Requiem and Predators have basically trashed the franchise, leaving the original movie as the only Predator installment that really works as an action film on it's own and not just an installment or exercise in running around Texas.
The first item on that list looks better and better with every sequel.

Predators was just fucking weird. Still watched it and didn't want those hours back, though.

Predator suggested that whenever there was a hot summer in Central America the hunter/killer runs around for a while. We don't know much beyond that except at the end the thing felt like it should fight "fair" even though it had out-teched the mercs from the beginning and it didn't seem to care then. Maybe it couldn't resist a challenge to 1v1 Arnold. Plausible for a hunter of sentient species.
Predator 2 established in the movie universe that there was a hierarchy of warriors with rules. Most people assume the whole race must be like that but that doesn't really make sense. There have to be predator accountants somewhere. We saw a Predator hunting-trip-RV with various trophies, and when Danny won they gave him a pistol from the Revolutionary War as a prize which suggests they have been hunting on Earth for a long time.
The 2 AvP movies really ran with that, and we established in movie canon that Predators hunt Aliens for sport and as a right of passage, and they are still visiting Earth. We also had clumsy attempts to tie in the Weyland and Yutani corporations, even though the movies can't seem to remember how they are spelled from flick to flick.
Predators changed the game... now it turns out they are snatching up mighty killers from Earth and dropping them in a game preserve on some other planet, and it established that there are various factions of predators that don't like each other.
Now, do these movies need a reboot? My gut says no, but maybe a rewatch of the original would change my mind. Have rewatched The Running Man and Total Recall recently, and it surprised me how... hollywood-film-set it all looked. I'm not sure who my perceptions have changed. Since they filmed Predator in the jungle maybe it won't have the problem.
And, you ghost me again and I'll bleed you.

I say reboot. They need to reboot Aliens too.
The hybrid aliens are fucking stupid (human and predator).
In the comics, the canon had the Predators actually dropping Aliens onto planets so they could come hunt them later.

Things I've surmised from the flicks:
Predator: The preds like hot weather. Latino chick said they only come in the hottest years and the current one picks a rainforest to set down in. Maybe the pred equivalent of "going off and finding myself for a few years" involves interstellar big game hunting, in which case, he's really more of a hunter than a predator.
We don't know much beyond that except at the end the thing felt like it should fight "fair"
Pred doesn't fight fair and he fucking knows it. Cloaking device, lighter, stronger alloys and metals, the pseudo-Wolvie claws, more advanced medical tech, etc., etc., etc. I think they hunt to prove how much they can kick the rest of the universe's ass. Whoever brings home the biggest/most skulls gets the best office or they have to MDK the rest of the species so they don't self-destruct themselves.
Predator 2: They hunted Aliens. I saw the fucking skull in the spaceship at the end. They can subsist on food that comes from Earth. Second pred was more of an adrenaline junkie. The first one was stealthy, it stalked and waited. Second one engages the cloaking device and starts going apeshit in a loaded subway car. Least they have differing personalities.
There have to be predator accountants somewhere.
Nah. I always envisioned the Preds being more like the Spartans -- they conscript others to do all the shitty manual labour while the military makes sure no one fucks with them. I'd say it makes more sense for the Preds to have some servant species they've subjugated/conquered. Like it'd be hard to drop an Alien Queen on a planet with a useful race, "save" them from it, and then yoink half a village back to Pred HQ for slaves. Additionally, keeping Alien Queens on ice would be an awesome way to prevent those slaves from rebelling.
"Hey, Pred King, the slaves are staging a revolt."
"Again? Goddamnit, fine. Microwave a few of the bitch queens back to life and threaten to drop them on some of their home planets if they don't change their fucking tune."
The 2 AvP movies need to be forgotten. Just fucking horrible. The hybrid Alien/Preds got double plus retarded. That trend started with the third Alien movie, lest we forget the Alien/dog.
Predators, ah what to say about that piece of shit? One decent scene.
I'm almost voting reboot unless you can do something to retconn those last 3 flicks. Always possible. I don't like tossing out Pred 1 and 2.

Reboot is now a sequel.
My interest level just dropped.

3) The movies ARE the source material. There's no textual, audio, comic or television source to pull from for a new angle that doesn't build on what the film-going audience already knows.
Say what?

I missed that.
My interest level just dropped again.
Head to a comic store. You'll obviously be surprised by what you find.

He’s developing the 1930s-set adventure pic Doc Savage and the Remo Williams adaptation The Destroyer at Sony Pictures
Going to be a bit before he has time. Holy shit, Remo Williams. You want to talk about killing a franchise before it started...

Doc Savage
Really? I liked that one, it's fun. Hard to imagine it rebooting well, though.

There needs to be at least one transgender in the cast too.

Well obviously there needs to be that. Demographics alone say that like 14 peeps in 20 are gender fluid, and I believe that survey.
The other 6 are transphobic.

I got a crappy Predator book from pub trivia one night as the 4th place shit prize about a year ago. Read it on one of the plane rides. The predators (the Hish) are entirely capable of switching their hormones on and off to change up genders.
