Simon Pegg?

I hope so.

Ant Man is a Marvel hero that has the ability to shrink and communicate/control ants.

He was originally Hank Pym who is the top scientist in the Marvel universe. However, Hank eventually gave it to Scott Lang or something like that. Hank, meanwhile, continued on as Giant Man and created Ultron.

Anyway, Scott died at the hands of the Scarlet Witch in the big Avengers Disassembled story line.

The Ant Man helmet and equipment was eventually found by a shitty S.H.I.E.L.D. agent by the name of Eric O'Grady who donned the outfit and used it to do things like spy on Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) in the shower.

If Simon Pegg is getting into the helmet, I'm betting he'll be the Eric O'Grady version.

I thought we had an Ant-Man thread, but fuck the search on this forum.

Anyway, here's the first trailer:

I literally searched "ant and man" and it was about 4 pages down because it wasn't a very specific search.

I search for Ant-Man, antman, and just the word ant. It never found that thread.

It found the Aunt May thread each time though!

"ant and man" covers all the things you tried to search because I think it hits on partial words. The things you tried to search were too specific and wouldn't have had any hits.

edit - except for "ant." That was too general.

I hope they inject some of Eric O'Grady into Paul Rudd's Scott Lang.

Eric was the third Ant-Man and stole the technology. He wasn't evil, but was a very reluctant hero. He once shrunk down in size to watch Ms. Marvel shower. I want that scene in the movie. :p

Was he the one with the sick daughter or something that he'd broken in to steal something to sell for her surgery (or something). I had a few issues of the relaunch of the series with the new Ant-Man and I'm wanting to say Pym (or whoever) ended up giving him the tech as long as he was doing good with it. Kind of fuzzy on the story, as it was something like 30 years ago when I read them.

Scott Lang, who Rudd is portraying, is the one with the daughter. Eric is single and without kids.

I don't even know who is the current Ant-Man in the comics these days. I believe all three are alive. (Lang died at one point at the hands of the Scarlet Witch.)

James Gunn (writer and director of Guardians of the Galaxy) is giving this movie a glowing review.

He could be just selling cars, but this could be a good sign.

And really I guess it is gender normative of us to refer to him as Ant MAN, because we don't yet know how that character self identifies. Until then I will be referring to this movie as Ant Person.

Why ant? All because he's small doesn't mean he has to be an ant. He could be a flea, or a mite. Don't force him into your entomological stereotypes!

We also don't know how the character race-identifies so really this could be a blacksploitation movie, and you are a bad person for financially supporting it.

You're trying to get us not to see a movie with a black character? Racist.

It opens in 4 days. She's in bed now (I'm banging her) but tomorrow I will check with my social secretary to see what my Friday ---> Sunday plans are, and maybe we can try to plan on seeing this?

Difficulty level: my kid will attend because he is awesome and likes good movies.

Really strong movie. IMHO, the funniest Marvel movie to date.

I was very confused that Edgar Wright's name was all over the credits. I thought he walked from the movie, but apparently they used a lot of his stuff.

This film is FIRMLY in the Marvel universe.

Stick around for the mid and post credits scenes.

I saw it twice today. No big deal.
