When I saw the previews I said, "I'll never see this movie, but I'd really like to buy stock in it."
the movie also placed No. 1 with $124.3 million from 56 markets for a whopping foreign total of $280.5 million and early worldwide cume [sic] of $395.7 million.

Damn.

If you can't enjoy the Minions, I feel sorry for you. They're hilarious.

Granted, I have kids, but I can't wait to take them to see this movie.

I appreciate all the paranoid schizo parents and grandparents they've outed with the help of McDonald's, but that's been the whole of their comedic value to me thus far.

Honestly, after seeing the preview, I'm not looking forward to it. They're funny, but I don't think they can carry a movie.

But I'm going for my kids, cuz they'll love it.

"They" can't because they don't speak English, but that hasn't stopped other films, so...

It has received pretty good reviews. I'm hopeful it won't be a disappointment like Inside Out.

I saw the previews for Inside Out, and all I could think was "Critics will love this movie, but I don't think people will"

Howard Tayler panned it pretty hard. I trust his opinions on movies, he's usually spot on.

Howard doesn't sound like he's 4 years old.

Not to come off as mean, but that review sounded like someone old, without kids in their life, and over the top pretentious.

(And that sounds FAR meaner than my intent.)

I'm sure he has great views on movies, but I think he should have recused himself here. I mean he admits he didn't even want to see it!

For me, the movie is about a bond for me and my kids. We really enjoy the Despicable Me films and the Minions are favorites in the house. I hear "Be-Doo!" on a daily basis.

This movie was made for me, them, and other families like us. It's probably not for him, just like I'm not rushing out to see anything starring Sean Penn.

Not saying he's wrong, but the tone of the article made me believe he couldn't enjoy it.

He has a bunch of kids (he's mormon). In the past the kids movies he's seen with them have been rated highly when they deserved it, which was often. I think this might be the only kids movie besides Cars 2 that I've seen him give a negative review.

That's not to say you won't like it. Just think of this as lowering expectations a little so as to increase your potential for enjoyment. :)

EDIT: I was wrong, he also gave a thumbs down to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 and The Smurfs.

It was cute. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible by any stretch of the imagination.

Their lack of a language most people can understand is actually pointed out in the film, so not sure why there was an issue there.

The story was light, but the characters solid. Animation is great. There are some laughs, but zero emotional moments.

I do think these guys are better as sidekicks than featured players, but I was only mildly disappointed by the movie.
