They are double booked.
They are mutants, and Magneto's kids, but also members of The Avengers from WAY back. (I think the 60s?)
It's interesting because Spider-Man and Wolverine are also Avengers.
I posted something a few months back where Hugh Jackson was publicly asking Fox, Marvel, and Sony to figure something out so Wolverine and Spider-Man could appear in the next Avengers film.
What would be really interesting is if WB and Marvel could come to an agreement and make a Avengers vs JLA movie.
In related news, Marvel is working VERY hard right now to push "Inhumans". They're a group of super humans that have been around since the earliest days of the Fantastic Four (I don't understand why they don't fall under the FF's rights...). They're like mutants, only not at all interesting or popular.
Anyway, the idea behind them is that there are these special crystals that can be turned to mist, and when humans are exposed, if they're decedents of the inhumans, they gain super powers.
The funny thing is that the vast majority of them barely pass for human. Their looks are as mutated as their powers.
Now Marvel is doing this huge event to boost their population, and oddly enough, many still look human.
The idea is that Marvel's trying to make the Inhumans as popular as the X-Men so they can make movies about them.
Good luck with that.

That's interesting too. Daredevil and Ghost Rider just came back to Marvel because the rights holder, I think Fox, let them lapse.
Meanwhile, Sony will be doing constantly Spider-Man movies or they lose the rights. Ditto for Fox and the X-Men.
I don't think I've seen a Namor or Man-Thing movie...ever. So why do they still have the rights?

Man-Thing. As for Namor, the last time he was in the news, I think it was for the commemorative stamp being released with his image.

See, but that's odd. That was almost a decade ago, and nothing new. Fox lost the rights to DD and Ghost Rider because they let them expire. Sony and Fox are going to be shoving their characters at us for fear of losing the rights.

I'd say simply because no one cares about Namor or Man-Thing. But if they're making a fucking Ant Man movie, I guess anything goes.

No doubt the contracts for Namor and Man-Thing were quite a bit less stringent than those for Spiderman and the X-Men.

If you don't believe Marvel is PISSED about Fox having the rights to their characters, here's some proof from the comics end of Marvel.

Well, Sony and Marvel made a deal for Spidey, so he'll be in the Marvel cinematic universe now.
Also, Wolverine is dead. Not kidding. Marvel killed him off in a piss poor way (the story was complete shit), and there are no plans to bring him back. I didn't believe that at first, but I think Marvel has Disney money now, so they're fine leaving the FF, Wolvie, and possibly most of the X-Men on the bench until they get their movie rights back.

Interesting tidbit from the leaked Sony emails.
This time it's Marvel and a Sony guy talking.
The most interesting point is that Kevin Feige, the brains behind the Marvel CU, has no desire to "reboot". He thinks casting new actors and continuing to tell stories will work just fine, ala James Bond.

To me it's James Bond and we can keep telling new stories for decades even with different actors.

Agreed. It's easier to find new, equally interesting actors to portray characters as opposed to coming up with "new" plots, characters, and themes which are just retreads of the last attempt.
Question for you both: One day soon we will be rebooting the Iron Man franchise with new actors. In that reboot would you change the events of the first trilogy? E.g. Obadiah becomes a true father figure to Tony, Pepper gets jealous and she becomes the one that gets him thrown out of the company and tries to kill him for walking away from defense contracts? Pepper Potts falls in love with a caucasian Rhodey instead of Tony? It’s almost like setting up an alternate universe to the first trilogy. You guys are not seeing this?
Goddamn, hell no. That sort of thing might fly in the comics, but a billion "What Ifs," "Elseworlds," or alternate universe shit will kill things faster than bad sequels.

I don't care what it takes, I just don't want every new movie with a new actor in a role to be a rehash of the origin story. Enough already.

The Tobey ones were awful, just god-fucking-awful. The Garfield ones are at least watchable, for the most part. The Green Goblin still comes off as a Power Rangers villain, but at least he's killing people right out of the gate instead of having deep conversations with his reflection in the mirror.GORDON wrote:The devil you say.
