I am still cringing at....
"playing hide the zucchini?" I really wish that line wasn't in there.
Now someone can post that disturbing gif.

It feels that a lot was cut out of this movie.
Thor has disturbing visions.... decides he needs to go for a swim in the magic pool to decipher them.... 5 seconds later, he jumps on Vision's box and acts like Dr. Frankenstein. What the hell happened?

I am wondering about the naming of "Veronica." They mentioned Banner helped them design it... which is nice. Would be a dick move to plot against his science-bro behind his back.
But wasn't Banner's old love named Betty? Is this an Archie comics reference, Veronica is the opposite of Betty... one makes him happy, one locks him up?
I'm probably speculating way too much into that.

He said that the vision convinced him that it was a good idea.
But yeah, something about the writing was just off. The stupid lines like the zucchini one. It didn't flow great. Didn't care for the magic helicarrier either.

I kinda liked he magic helicarrier.... it had a great entrance, and SOMETHING has been hinted at in the TV show Agents of SHIELD but was kind of a mystery. The show suggested the carrier has been getting prepped in secret for a while. Fury even said, "Some friends of mine" have been getting it ready, which implies Coulson.
IF that is what "Theta Protocol" was. Which I think it is.

I think Whedon is exhausted of the franchise, but at least he just didn't completely stop giving a fuck like Jackson did in the Hobbit movies.
Fucker didn't even put in a post credits scene.
I've heard there will be a lot of deleted scenes, one hopes there would be a 3-hour director's cut... or at least fans would make one.

Ok, so Ultron's plan is to send a city crashing down to Earth like a "meteor" in order to trigger an extinction-level event. To do this he lifts an actual city up like 5 miles, reverses the thrusters, and sends it plummeting to Earth.
Ok, well, the problem with real ELE meteors is that they are coming in at about 25k mph, and they have so much energy that the Earth absorbs more than is healthy for the existing life on Earth. How much speed is a city likely to pick up falling 5 miles, starting at a dead stop, even with thrusters? Seems like it would be enough to fuck up everything within 25 miles, but nothing like an ELE.

Dude, that'd be a great What If for XKCD. Submit it, he'll ACTUALLY find out.

Ok I sent it, and even left the f-bomb in there because I've never read that site before and don't know if it is appropriate.

"playing hide the zucchini?" I really wish that line wasn't in there.
It was far too crass. It didn't fit the characters at all.
Also, the first word in the movie is "shit", but that played into a joke, which wasn't that funny.

As stated elsewhere, the Blu Ray is going to have a LOT of additional scenes and an alternate ending.

Nice theory. Could be true.
I'm not a fan of Widow and Hulk hooking up. I get it. I think they make it work in the story. However, it doesn't work for their characters.
I think Whedon is exhausted of the franchise, but at least he just didn't completely stop giving a fuck like Jackson did in the Hobbit movies.
Yeah, he's spent. I was nervous about him leaving, and knowing the Russos are coming, I'm glad he's leaving. I don't think he was lazy, but I do think he was losing focus.
Can I speculate now about the twins?
1. In the comics they're Magneto's kids and mutants. However, because Fox owns the mutants, they've retconned that in the comics and they're be Inhumans.
2. Quicksilver's death was shocking, but don't think it's the last you'll see of him. Those gems can do anything. In fact, Thanos once killed half the universe including almost all of the Marvel heroes, but once the good guys got the gems they brought everyone back. He could lure the Scarlett Witch with a promise of her brother's return.
3. In the comics, the Scarlet Witch and Vision get married. There was an ever so subtle moment in the movie that hinted at a spark there. The best part of that relationship is she's insane. She used her magic to will kids into existence. The Avengers eventually had to end all that, but she was accidentally reminded of them years later. That resulted in her killing several Avengers and then remaking the world to a place where everyone got what they wanted. Everyone was happy except for Wolverine. His whole life he's wanted to know the truth... One thing leads to another, and she eventually utters the words "No More Mutants".
That storyline is called House of M, and is excellent.
Back to the flick, I loved how they made Hawkeye the example of what keeps them grounded. They're "gods", but they're still human (except Thor...and now Vision). That being said, when they showed his family, I got very nervous. He doesn't have one in the normal Marvel universe, but he did in the Ultimate universe until Black Widow killed them (she was very evil in that universe). That led to him crucifying her with arrows until he put one between her eyes.

So obviously Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past was the superior Quicksilver.
More evidence that Joss is tired of the franchise... he had almost a year to 1-up the X-Men version, and didn't even bother.

And Stark's, "I will re-institute Prima Nocta" line is also crass. He basically said he will bring legal rape back to Asgard.
What were these people thinking? I'm almost positive I saw a different version in an early clip... something about being a firm but fair ruler. Much funnier.

Yeah, I noticed that one too. He wasn't suave. The banksy reference and the Eugene O'Neill references felt forced as well.

According to these guys, everything I speculated here was exactly right.

The thing I didn't understand... if you have to raise the city with thrusters... then you ALREADY had that much energy in your thrusters, given that all potential energy invested into the city came from the kinetic energy of the thrusters.
Why not just make bombs instead of thrusters?

thruster thrusters <-- Why the hell doesn't Chrome consider those valid words?

Not to mention that you lose a lot of the energy in the lifting/dropping process. Very wasteful.
Whoever wrote that doesn't understand some of the most basic concepts of physics. Conservation of energy, for one. Unless it was on purpose and Ultron is an idiot? Hopefully not.

And that's exactly the point. The "energy" in the thrusters wasn't enough to end the world.... so nothing they could do would end the world. World-ending, giant meteors get their energy from elsewhere and bring it to earth at 25,000 mph. Joss didn't hire any technical advisers if even I immediately saw the mistake in the main plan.
