Article.

I've got no problem with them rebooting again. Horror is the most profitable genre of movie, and Jason is a staple.

Let's hope they make something more like the original, and less like the horrendous reboot.

Nope.
However, rumors have circulated that they may take a found footage approach with this installment. While not conclusive, this seems even more likely now that they have tapped a director with found footage experience.

Actually, I don't mind the found footage angle. If done right, it could be entertaining.

however, I do agree with you that this firmly plants it in the "not even close to the original" camp, and they haven't even cast the movie yet.

Hannibal writer tapped to write this movie.

Didn't really love Hannibal, so...

The film will finally address the reason behind Jason Voorhees’ immortality.

They're FINALLY going to address the question that literally nobody has been asking.

Voodoo/black magic or demons. Also, Hannibal sucked. How can you make a movie about Anthony Hopkins as a cannibal serial killer and have less tension than your average used car commercial?

Producer says next installment is "on the right track now".
“We have a great writer – Aaron Guzikowski is writing the script. Aaron wrote Prisoners. He’s a better writer than we deserve for this franchise. He’s fantastic. The script that he has come up with is really great, and we got it a couple weeks ago. We gave our notes to Aaron, the studio gave their notes to Aaron, and we’re waiting for the script to come back.
So "on the right track" means hiring a guy who wrote a bad movie, calling his script great, but giving him notes to changes it, and then the studio doing the same?

Not a total lie.

Rings sucked so bad, it killed the new Friday the 13th reboot.

No genre of film has lost its way as much as horror.

Found footage and ghosts are fine, but not "every fucking movie made over the last decade" fine.

Bring back the slasher!

Cabin in the Woods fucked them all.

I think it went downhill starting with Saw, Cabin Fever, and The Blair Witch Project. Was reading last week that all three '80s horror franchises were in a reboot process. Guess it's only two now.

CitW was just a throwing down of a gauntlet. I liked it a lot, but I'm not sure he'd agree where horror is now is better. Clearly audiences don't think so...

I think the problem is Hollywood got lazy. Instead of writing, set design, and direction setting up a scare, they just CGI it.

I forgive Saw because the concept was there. Granted it was really light on actual kills, but it could have become something better. The other two were ass. One was revolutionary, but led us down a bad road. The other is a steaming pile of shit that should never be seen by anyone.

Cabin Fever was a piece of shit. I wished necrosis on Eli roth's writing hand after that one. And while I'm at it, double fuck Hostel.
