I'm watching Aliens now.
I saw Cpl. Hicks and remembered that I'd bought a camo vest at a used clothing shop that had "Hicks" on it many years ago in L.A., so I pulled it out of my closet.

'Tis not the same as what he wore.
The story would have been much cooler if it ended up being a prop. Oh well.

About 3 weeks ago I finally sat my son down and we watched Alien and Aliens.
It took me about 25 years and a big screen, high-res TV to notice they were in the USCM, not the USMC.

Watched the 2003 director's cut of Alien 3 with him, today. I wanted to give him time for the reality of Corporal Hicks and Newt to sink in before I showed them getting erased in the first 5 minutes of the next movie.
I'd forgotten, the director's cut is actually a much better movie. It has time to breathe and everything makes a bit more sense. I had forgotten they removed the alien bursting from her chest at the end. Wonder why, seemed ok that she held on to it as she fell in the original.
Tomorrow Alien: Resurrection, assuming his school is cancelled because of the cold, again.

It's best everyone forget that piece of shit existed.
EDIT: Wait, wait, wait. Cancelled due to cold? Buy some coats and antifreeze. Wuss.

I know.
Apparently my local school system bought busses that can't function in a typical Ohio winter. They are diesel, diesel fuel gels under a certain temperature, and there isn't a bus garage to keep them warm. Good planning.

I cannot agree with Malcolm strongly enough.
Hell, as far as I'm concerned there have been two Alien movies and one Predator film.

Joss Whedon wrote A4, you know. I know that makes Malcolm happy. It gave me one of my fave lines, "I am not the man with whom to fuck."

Better line.
Simon Wilder: Which door do I leave from?
Proffesor Pitkannan: At Harvard we don't end our sentences with prepositions.
Simon Wilder: Okay. Which door do I leave from, asshole?

Stephen Spielberg made Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, that doesn't mean Jaws sucks.

That's different. Jaws is proof that Steven had talent at one point.

Most human beings not composed of mostly hatred and bile think Whedon has made a few decent movies and TV shows.
I can assure you that The Avengers was a really good movie.

Ok, so my kid ranks them, from fave to least fave:
2
4
3
1
At least he got the best film correct.
I think he liked the pirates in 4.

No disrespect to the kid, but #1 is for adults with an attention span and who understand characterization.
I'm sure most kids would rank Jaws 3 above Jaws because of Seaworld, 3D, and the higher body count.

1 and 2 are such vastly different movies, but each very well done in their own way. 3 & 4 were drunken abortions. 4 was worse.
