Chekov is Odd Thomas and he can see dead people. He lives in a small town where Willem Dafoe is the chief of police and he has a very loving girlfriend played spectacularly by Addison Timlin. (I cannot say enough about her.)

Odd uses his gifts to bring justice for the dead, but doesn't let others know about his gifts aside from the aforementioned people. Oh, he also hides them from the bodachs who will kill him if they find out he can see him. (Think demons.)

Apparently, this film is based on a Dean Koontz book, but don't let that turn you off if you're not a fan, it's amazing. There are some plot holes, but I really enjoyed this movie. I think it's because everyone involved brings all the charm they can muster and act their pants off.

I'd describe it as a horcom? (Horror/Comedy) It's as if The Sixth Sense, Kuffs, and The Frighteners had a threesome while the love story from The Princess Bride sat in the corner and played with itself.

Just a charming fun movie. Almost clean enough to watch with a mixed audience too, but the bodachs might be a bit too scary.

I should note, I was looking for a horror movie, started with HBOGo and found nothing worth watching, went to Amazon Prime and got very irritated with their selection of a million movies that you can't watch because only 3 of them are available via Prime, and finally landed on Netflix. I scrolled all the way through their Halloween suggestions, went down to horror and picked this over a movie about a killer clown called Stiches. So my expectations weren't through the roof. It's safe to say I was very pleasantly surprised.

Still, I loved this movie. It's one I will watch again. There are movies that you can tell are shot with love and everyone enjoyed being on set, this is one of them.

Someone got me the book a while back, it is in the "to read" queue. It is a paperback so I have been kinda waiting until I am forced to take a plane ride somewhere, but that hasn't happened so good.

Yep, everybody showed up for this one.

Did it feel like it was going to be a series?

Yeah, I could have seen that as a series pilot.

Re-watched this again last weekend. Still an amazing film.

Sucks that Anton is dead. I really wanted to see a follow up to this movie.

Stormy and Odd were one of the best on screen couples I've ever seen.
