Tim Burton

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

I always complain about how Hollwood fucks up existing properties by thinking they can do the better. Here's Tim Burton discussing how Marvel's formula sucks.

Yeah Tim. The biggest studio at the moment and whose products have been published for decades have no clue what they're doing. The flawed hero concept is so unsuccessful that Marvel's biggest competitor has had to change their formula to match it. The people behind Marvel are clueless as well. I mean, whoever heard of a Disney movie?

Stick to making your niche movies where you churn out one good movie out of every five. The last time you tried to make a big budget film it was a massive failure with an ending even you couldn't explain. Well crafted!

I think he's butt hurt that he's fallen out of favor.

After he watched Dark Shadows I have a friend who vowed he would never watch another movie directed by Tim Burton or containing Johnny Depp, ever.

Never saw Dark Shadows. Watching the latest reboot of Planet of The Apes, I think the secret to this kind of movie is that the people that are doing it have a real love and respect for the source material. That why this run of Planet of The Apes has been good and Burton's sucked a gorilla dick. That's why Dark Shadows sucked. That is why Exodus sucks (Seriously, you're going to get an atheist to direct a movie about Moses?)

Yes, we all know that superheroes are damaged individuals. Maybe we need to see a happy superhero?

Happy characters = no conflict = boring movie.

Listen to the director's commentary for the final scene. He admits that he has no idea what it means or why it's in the film HE FUCKING MADE! He laughs and says that's for the guy who directs the sequel to figure out.

If you think I'm wrong about Burton or Hollywood's "We can make it better" attitude, watch this:

An Evening with Kevin Smith is worth it for the Superman and Prince stories alone. The part where that same producer talks about the polar bears outside the Fortress of Solitude is almost as funny.

I remember it making a sort of sense at the time. Hard to remember now but didn't the time travel aspect get inverted, with the last one in being the first one out and the time gap being much telescoped? So I think I just assumed that the return trip had similar effects and after he returned the evil ape guy came back in the other ship but landed far in the past. Then started some sort of ape war and replaced humanity. Or something like that.

I think I was drunk at the time. That probably helped.

Awful movie regardless.

Sorry, I was referring to his Planet of the Apes.

Okay, Burton's. After it came out and everyone was like WTF with his ending, the story came out that the original ending tested so poorly at screenings for test audiences that they had to bring Walburg back to film that crap they stuck on the end of that.

So I can kind of understand his having no idea what it meant. I can also kind of understand him getting his feelings hurt and not really caring what it meant if they didn't like or understand his "vision". He's just that level of weird and ego to me.

All of which kind of makes you wonder just how bad the original ending was?
