The movie certainly made this a plausible scenario, and Burn Notice made me know that you can never trust an operative to not have plans within plans.

Opens today...

In related news, the director wants to make The Expendables again, only this time he wants an all female cast.

Finally saw it.

A total popcorn movie and not to be taken seriously at all. Even the villain's name is fucking Villan!!!

Picture the gore of the new Rambo, and throw in just about every action star you can imagine, and that's The Expendables 2.

If you ever wanted to see Willis, Stallone, and Swartzenegger in one shot together shooting bad guys, this is that film. If you crave the old action movies with the cheesy one liners, bad acting, over the top action, and almost non-existent character backgrounds, this is that film.

It's an amazingly honest bit of nostalgia.

An easy 7 or 8 out of 10 for sheer enjoyment's sake.

Remove the names and the tongue-in-cheek attitude, and make this any old action film that IS taking itself seriously, and that score drops to a 2.

No. Rated very R.

I thought Chuck Norris whined about it being an R so they made it PG13.

I went ahead and merged this Expendables 2 thread with the other Expendables 2 thread Leisher made back in 2010.

Saw it (Yay! Netflix).

It was......

ok.

Pretty campy.... damn-near self-aware with everyone saying everyone elses catch phrases. Chuck Norris being the Chuck Norris Joke was cute, and the Clint Eastwood "Man With No Name" music playing when he would show up was weird. Speaking of which, Ex3 needs Clint Eastwood.

This got really dumb. Way worse than the mediocre first one.

I've been trying to put my finger on it, and I think I got it. These aren't parodies or spoofs. But they deliver all the stuff that made us go to these action flicks in the 80's and 90's to the power of 10. To the point the the level of action almost makes it a parody (but not the movie itself, if that makes sense).

It's like all these stars are letting us know that they were in on the joke from the get go.

They've been brilliant in that execution.

I think it was actually better than the first. Took itself less seriously.
