When I was a pizza waiter, if blacks tipped, it was overwhelmingly one dollar regardless of the bill. I don't remember a percent that tipped or not. When you are only getting a dollar, you don't tend to pay much attention. But you were generally disappointed if you had to serve. You could always tell if you were going to get a tip. Well behaved kids = $1. Poorly behaved kids = no tip and a HUGE mess to clean up. Hate to perpetuate the stereotype or sound racist. . . but that's what happened. Calling out my black friends at the time justified it with "What difference does the bill make? You get $1 for bringing me my food." White people with crappy kids = little to no tip. White people with good kids = normal tip. Business whites, hit and miss. But very few tipped well, but you normally could count on one. White families with well behaved kids were the best tippers. Non-smokers tipped better than smokers. Men got tipped the same. Race, looks, etc, didn't matter. Tips seemed based on performance. Women always got more in tips. Even ugly ones.
We posted a study here years ago that detailed worst tippers by race, sex, and profession.
So if you're waiting tables and a black female lawyer sits down, you're fucked.

James Randi is pretty awesome. There's a cool documentary on Netflix about him.
And the Lord said, "Shut the fucketh up!"
