Thanks! I'll buy you lunch at the pig place on 54.

One problem I have is a bad knee and a bad shoulder. The shoulder I've been strengthening with swimming, and the knee with biking/running, but need less aerobic exercise to develop the muscles around those joints.

OK, started lifting again today:
Squats with dumbbells (started with 50 pounds).
Lunges (no weights)
Pushups
Planks
Dumbbell rows.

I will be sore tomorrow.

Yeah, best to ease into it slow. Being sore for 4 days saps your motivation. But, probably too late.

The sad thing is, I did ease into it. Lower weights and reps. But apparently not low enough based on how my quads/hammies feel

Treadmill test predicting longevity
Metabolism was calculated using "metabolic equivalent of tasks" or METs, a measure of how much energy someone expends during a task. The higher MET level achieved, the more likely it was the subject would last another decade.

The closer someone came to reaching their maximum heart rate as they ran, the more likely they were to die within ten years, compared to someone who only reached about 85 percent of their maximum heart rate during the test. Maximum heart rate was determined by subtracting the subject’s age from 220, a formula that’s been used for decades by exercisers and doctors alike.

Shit. When I do sprints and such, I routinely exceed 180. Not sure what the exact test they are doing is.

I lost a round of one of the Dietbets, finally. Slacked off this past month. Should still win the two other bets though. And the one I lost is the one I won like 50 cents on last round, so no big loss.

Light to moderate intensity cardio for medium time seems far safer and more productive than intensive training. I get the feeling your cardio and respiratory systems don't like red lining for long periods of time.

Hell, with that formula I hit max heart rate just standing up.

Your standing heart rate is 180 bpm?

Well, okay, not really just standing. But walking to the treadmill for the test would probably do it.

Eh, who wants to live forever? If family history is any indication, shaving off a decade or two off the end is a kindness.

Realistically I think I've got at least another presidency in me.

Like a Castro presidency?

Oh, god, no. I think more of a one-term failed Romney is more likely.

True story last week at work:

I saw some free doughnuts lying around. Reached for one, but they were all decorated green and yellow. Stopped. Couldn't.

Fucking Packers.

That's how I feel about Dunkin Donuts.

I was so excited when a Dunkin Donuts opened up on my side of town, because I'd never had them before and was looking forward to a new donut experience.

I was exceedingly whelmed.
