Alien v Predator 2

I saw AVP II.
It was substantially better than the first AVP.

I thought that the reaction on the Predator home world to the crashed ship was a bit unrealistic. IE, I thought they'd take more precautions.

I like how everybody was fair game to die in the movie, but really didn't believe that *everybody* was fair game.

The ending was OK.

That being said, the movie had everything I wanted, except for characters I cared about. That is, I wanted to care for a character more than I cared about the Predator, and if you take away the "mom and child" equity, that wasn't the case. But it had explosions and ass kicking and hot chicks and all that good stuff.

Here's how I rank the Xenomorph movies:
1 Aliens
2 Alien
3 Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem
4 Alien: Resurrection - After Alien 3, I hit this movie with *low* expectations. It's a mess of a movie, but they didn't have much to work with so I give them a little leeway.
5 Alien 3 - Killing off Newt and Hicks in their sleep? F.U. And ending it all with a fall? A fall?!?! F.U. She should have blown the place up, along with the company men. Ripley deserves a blaze of glory, not a whimper.
6 Predator II - There was a Xenomorph skull at the end. And I just wanted to put this movie at the bottom of another list.

I'm having trouble placing the original Aliens Vs. Predator, as I think it's better than Alien Resurrection and worse than Alien 3. Hmmm... My emotions toward Alien 3 are getting in the way.

I found Predator II far more entertaining than Alien 3 or Resurrection. Then again, that's probably cos anything w\ Gary Busey is funny.

No Xenomorphs ("Alien" aliens) in the original Predator.

Predator would be #3 on the list.

When I first heard about the fourth Alien installment with Weaver, I hoped that they'd pretend that Alien 3 never happened, sort of like what I did with the third Highlander movie.

Studio Executive: Hey, that last AvP movie made money. Where's the sequel? Get me a writer/director.

Writer/director: Ok, I love this franchise, but the fans pointed out a lot of flaws in the last movie, and we need to avoid those mistakes. To do that we'll reuse every single tidbit of lore we've already seen about aliens and predators from the first 4 movies: Alien, Aliens, Predator, and Predator 2. Every gag, sound effect, and trick. I'm talking everything from the Predator's mimicking of human sounds to skinning people as trophies and hanging them upside down from trees to the sounds of aliens screaming over a comm channel during a military firefight. Also, fans said the first PG-13 movie was a travesty... so.... we'll....... kill a bunch of kids, babies, and pregnant women. That's what the fans want, a rated R movie. We'll need a strong female lead like Ripley, and oh yeah... people liked Newt, so give our strong female a little girl to protect. And.... let's go ahead and end it with a helicopter outrunning a nuclear blast in a city. After all, it worked great in that Resident Evil movie. People loved that.

If they took Prometheus's budget and gave it to AvP3, it might work. Just bribe H.R. Giger and John Carpenter to collaborate on a script. Not the John Carpenter that wrote "Ghosts of Mars" and other drivel. The John Carpenter that wrote "Escape from New York" and remade "The Thing."
