Stargate: Universe

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

At first I was like, "Wow, just like BSG!"

Then they started focusing on the aspects I found tiresome in BSG, and now I am like, "Ugh... just like BSG..."

Finally, a half-decent episode.

I mean the one where Col. Young kept having the dream.

That was pretty good.

But I was glad when we got the final bit with Rush at the end. The Young = Ship relationship was getting a bit ... odd.

Just watched the one where they let the girl drive and she immediately wrecks the ship.

Show seems to be getting better, I'm not sure why. I hope it isn't actually eroding my taste in good TV and now my standards are just lower.

Interesting how the season started so weak and ended at the mid-season cliffhanger rather strong. Angst got dialed waaaay down. That's good.

And I hope the sheer incompetence of the people in the ship is a product of good writing..."These are the wrong people for the job..." and not because the writers are dumb and don't know how to write competent people.

"FTL drives are damaged.... how long until they come back online?"

And I just wanted to yell, "All you are doing is staring at a gauge on the bridge... you have neither an engineer on board to fix the FTL nor have any of you even done any damage assessment nor asked anyone to even go to the engine room and see."

And I try to like the Commander but he really was a deer in the headlights of that crisis. La Bamba swooped in and saved the day, decisively. He should be in charge.

I'm okay with that as long as they give it a good finish.

It's not a great series. But it does deserve an ending.

I predict a straight-to-video movie for closure. SG seems to do that.

So it's canceled?
Feh. I'm not heartbroken. I was only watching it because I was watching it.

Are there any must-see TV shows out there anymore? (Other than Jimmy Kimmel Live of course)
The only ones I look forward to are Dr. Who and Top Gear (the Euro series, not the American series)

On that note, 6 days to new Who.

Paul must be a fan of BBCA.

These are shows that I consider good enough to recommend trying: Burn Notice, Castle, Doctor Who, How I Met Your Mother, Lie to Me, My Boys, Mythbusters, Psych, The Big Bang Theory, The Venture Brothers, The Walking Dead, and Top Gear.

There are others I watch, but these would be the cream of the current crop. IMO.

I record The Big Bang Theory (and Dr. Who and Top Gear) off that list. I used to watch How I Met Your Mother, but stopped for some reason and never picked it back up.

And I don't think all is as it seems. I think future Rush knew something.

I also think the crew that went through the gate and "disappeared" all ended up time traveling, and they will account for 70% of all unexplained iris impacts at the SGC for the next 20 years, or so.

You, sir, are a ghoul.

Interesting how it disappeared at the end. That wasn't destruction. That was something else. I don't think it's gone for good.

Did you see the "next time on"? Looks like someone made it home after all.

When the Destiny sank into the star, I assumed that meant shields were still up for a few more seconds, but they wouldn't last. Maybe Chair-Rush will become integrated with the ship and manage to pull out a save.

Did not watch the "next time on..." did they show Richy Valenz on Earth? Because they already said he was the only one to come through the gate from Destiny.

I didn't see it as sinking in so much as suddenly dissolving away, which seemed odd but I forgot about the shields so maybe you are right.

Yeah, we've still got us some Chavez y Chavez on the show, it appears. Although then I have to wonder exactly how and when the timeline split, what with him already having come back to an empty ship and all in the old Rush timeline. The exact timing of all that is certainly more than a little fuzzy now if that's where he came from.
