On Sunday night, a White House official who asked not to be named added: "It is worth noting that the security requirements for both the President and (Vice President) can be distracting from events like this - for once this event is not about us!" The official did not address how other prominent world leaders were able to work around the security requirements.
British Prime Minister David Cameron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov were among those who attended, along with religious leaders.
Good job, US.

He's a Jesuit and they are pretty much socialists and collectivists. So I'm not shocked.
A coworker that's an atheist was talking a few weeks ago and stated. "You know, the third promise of Fatima said that the pope after John Paul was going to be the last pope of the Catholic church. And this one is starting to turn the church into something other than the Catholic church I recognize."

Francis spoke about the Paris terror attacks while en route to the Philippines, defending free speech as not only a fundamental human right but a duty to speak one's mind for the sake of the common good.
...
"You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others."
...
But recently the Vatican and four prominent French imams issued a joint declaration that denounced the attacks but also urged the media to treat religions with respect.
Francis insisted that it was an "aberration" to kill in the name of God and said religion can never be used to justify violence.
But he said there was a limit to free speech when it concerned offending someone's religious beliefs.
So a fundamental human right has to yield to religion? No. Hell no.

Have none of these people ever heard the expression, "Your right to swing your fists ends at the tip of my nose?" Is it really that hard of a concept to grasp?
Muslims have the right to say whatever they want about people insulting their religion, but murder is still one of our most heinous crimes. How can this even be discussed? How can anyone be so morally ignorant that they think there is something TO discuss?

Was watching Bill Mahr's HBO show last week because he had Rushdie on it. He said, "There are a lot of people who believe you can say what you want, and then they say 'but'..."
But he said there was a limit to free speech when it concerned offending someone's religious beliefs.
Go fuck yourself, pope asshole.
You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others.
Yes, you can. If someone's faith is so fragile that it can't stand mockery, then it's a shallow and worthless attempt to justify otherwise psychotic behaviour. It is not a free pass to bring down the wrath of your god(s) on someone.

There are very few absolutes when it comes to politics and religion and anything else, but this is one of them: you can't kill, harm, rape, or maim people because they hurt your feelings when they insulted your fucking religious figure. Ever. It is never ok. It makes you an animal, and you need to be put down as such because we are trying to have a society, here.

That used to be normal and expected behaviour according to "society." Back hundreds of years ago. Some people really like that, though.

It would be fairly amusing to me if passive Europe actually got fed up with the immigrant bullshit and went all Germany/1938.

That'd be entertaining just so I could watch the EU collapse.

Then we'd have to be going to rallies to make sure Hillary keeps us out of it.

5 killed in riots by religion of peace. In Niger.
"They offended our Prophet Mohammad, that's what we didn't like," said Amadou Abdoul Ouahab, who took part in the demonstrations.
Can't offend a dead person.
The death toll from Friday's clashes in Niger's second largest city of Zinder rose to five after emergency services discovered a burned body inside a Catholic Church.
Residents said churches were burned, Christian homes looted and the French cultural center attacked. A police officer and three civilians had already been confirmed killed in the demonstrations, police sources said.
