My Venezuelan co-worker broke down in my office when this happened. Apparently, the epicenter was her hometown and she had friends she couldn't reach.

I've genuinely been too afraid to ask her. I don't want to rip open any wounds.

I'll do a general question next time we talk like, "I hope things are well back home?"
