Odd choice by the filmmakers to have the power go out halfway through the movie.

That is to build suspense. It's a 4D experience.

Mad Max fans have found edible silver spraypaint on amazon.

That being said, I think I have my Halloween costume idea.

This could be a little spoilery, I suppose.

During my viewing the power went out. All the theaters were emptied and passes to return handed out. Most people went home. A few of us stuck around, and when the power was on and stable, they restarted all the theaters back up for those folks who stayed. We even got to keep the passes.

Despite the power outage, I enjoyed the film.

The thing I loved most was the world they've created. It was beautiful in its ugliness. The style of the cars, people, and the Citadel was awesome in ways the original trilogy never hit. The action was also pretty spectacular. Ditto for the acting, particularly Nox(?), direction, etc.

That stuff HAD to be awesome because the story sucked. It's not so much that it was awful. I feel this way because it was like we were dropped into the middle of a story and nobody bothered to explain what was going on. We REALLY need a spoiler thread for me to get farther into this issue. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, was explained about the world these people inhabited. Maybe that's ok? It certainly didn't make me hate the movie, but I do feel like I was robbed of half the film. Like it started in the middle.

If you're an action film junkie, see it. Although, I can't imagine any of your significant others wanting to see, much less enjoying this film.

I don't think we needed a guide, I feel like they dropped us in media res, and we had to figure out what was going on. They provided enough clues, I thought, for everything. (I also didn't think there was that much to figure out?)

It was all implied. Show, don't tell kinda thing.

But really, it was about the action.

Coming back for a week in IMAX.

Nearest theater near me is in Detroit (proper), so I'll probably not make it unless it becomes an event with other peeps.

Detroit? No thanks, I don't want to be shot. We have one in my berg, though.

I don't know, seems like the right place to go see Mad Max. Sets the right tone.

Leisher's closer to that IMAX than I am. I will leave it up to him.

Felt very Borderlands.

I got all the exposition I needed during Max's flashbacks. I really don't want more than ten, twenty seconds of backstory. I'm not in this flick for the deep plot points.

Not if they're going to continue on in this world, and they are...

I'm worried we'll get movies showing "pre" shit and that never works out well.

I'm not sure if it was mentioned in this thread or on another site all together, but there is some question as to whether or not the guy in this flick is even the original Max.... for all we know he is just some dude who grew up hearing the legends of Mad Max, and put the name on.

The original three only have a loose ordering:

1) original
2) Road Warrior ... half a decade or so after 1
3) Beyond Thunderdome ... two decades or more after 1

Fury Road might be between any two.

Or maybe the Feral Kid grew up and walked the wasteland a while before he returned to take over leadership of the Great Tribe... and along the way he put on Max's name when he saved Furiosa.

Maybe. Comic books say that Fury Road is after Beyond Thunderdome.

Ah, I actually have that in my amazon wish list. They are George Miller canon, right? I won't waste my time with fan fiction.
