DRM problems kept the 3-D version of the movie from being played in a bunch of theaters in Germany.
http://www.heise.de/newstic....09.html
That's in German.
"...the movies were DRM protected such that there had to be a key per copy of the film, per film projector, and per movie server in the theater. The key supplier, by the name Deluxe, was apparently unable to provide a sufficient number of valid keys in time. Moviegoers were offered to get a refund or view an analogue 2D showing instead."
HIGH larious.

I can't believe they actually called it "unobtainium."

I take it that's the material we're raping, pillaging, & plundering the aliens & their planet for?

I saw that and then how it is about humans killing and stealing from natives of Americans killing and stealing from Native Americans and Iraqis and though that all the effort must have gone into changing the way movies are made and watched and not the story that goes along with them.
Could the story be any lazier?

Yeah, but the name unobtainium is a joke.

Sure, but it's an old and tired joke.
Was the line "Take my wife ... please" in the movie anywhere, too?

I don't think so, but the dialog WAS retarded.

Been thinking on this movie since I saw it yesterday. Was kind of cliche. Bad corporation, evil military leader. From an entertainment point I did enjoy the 3D. As for a story. Left me wanting. 6/10

Watching this movie, I kept thinking: "This world looks like it was designed by Roger Dean." Turns out I wasn't the only one:

Well, the Blu Ray was pretty. It is being called the best BD on the market for visual quality.
I would have liked a less cartoonishly evil corporate guy...
Ok: Aliens vs. Avatar
Try to figure out which movie I am talking about:
- James Cameron Directed
- Sigourney Weaver
- Robotic exoskeletons
- C&C-Orca-Looking-gunships
- Evil corporation making bad decisions in spite of Sigourney Weaver's advice because no one believes her
- Hypersleep pods
- Movie title starts with an 'A'
- Mexican female dies in a big explosion
- Evil corporation putting money ahead of "doing the right thing"
- Movie climaxes with a person in a robotic exoskeleton going hand-to-hand with an alien over a young female

So this movie is essentially:
-1 part Dances with Wolves
-1 part Alien
-a dash of Smurfs
Yeah, really original. People should be proud this is the #1 grossing film of all time. It speaks to their taste and intelligence.
Isn't this film proof that the entire planet can be distracted by something shiny?

I finally broke down and went to see this since it has been re-released in 3D and with new footage.
It was exactly what I expected: The most beautiful film I've ever seen with a plot that had obviously been written by a 3rd grader.
Everyone I talk to about the film has always raved about how gorgeous it is, but nobody commented on the story. Now I know why. It's not that every bit of it was ridiculous, there were some very creative things within, but overall it was very childish.
The film reminds me a lot of my high school crush on Elle Macpherson. Breathtakingly beautiful, but snaps you back to reality and disappointment when you hear her speak.
Hilarious that they communicate with animals the same way they have sex with each other.

I had the exact same experience with Kathy Ireland.
