You see Google sold 80B in stocks today to raise more money for their unprofitable AI?

Insanity.

Saw it was down, didn't know why. But yeah, raise $$ when the stock is hot.

Erin Brockovich is going after data centers.

I did not know Virginia was a hot bed for them.

Oh yeah. It's got what they call data center alley, there's so many. I knew from work (data center = large electrical load).

When I saw that graph, the first thing that popped into my head was the scene from The Wedding Singer where Jon Lovitz watches Adam sing his song and says "He's losing his mind, and I'm reaping all the benefits!"

It's been so long since I've seen that movie, but that seems like an apt pull.

BTW, as it turns out, Jon Lovitz is a dick in real life.

Anthropic says the world needs to pause AI development right now.

The people with small dicks who need bigger yachts to get laid won't care.

Like I said...

Exactly. We're too divided as a species to stop, and honestly, it's not in our nature. It's the purest form of optimism to think it could happen.

The real solution is to get out ahead of it. Convene a panel NOW of the world's foremost minds, and not necessarily AI folks, in various fields to come up with "AI behavioral laws" designed to prevent AI from running amok and destroying humanity. Get the world to agree to include it in their AI's base code.

Far, far, far more of a chance for that to succeed than getting people to stop developing something they believe will get them fame, fortune, power, pussy, etc.
