Leisher wrote:The biggest surprise is Heimdall. I don't know if they took liberties with his character or if they played him closer to mythology, but his character played a huge role, and was pretty cool. The guy playing him did a really good job.

Best character in the film, I thought. I hit up Wikipedia out of curiosity, and discovered that

Heimdallr is attested as possessing foreknowledge, keen eyesight and hearing, is described as "the whitest of the gods", and keeps watch for the onset of Ragnarök while drinking fine mead in his dwelling Himinbjörg, located where the burning rainbow bridge Bifröst meets heaven.

So ... about 50/50 it seems. He didn't seem to be drinking much in the movie. But then apparently the various myths involving Heimdall tend to conflict a lot.

Norse mythology is damned near impossible to untangle and pin down.

The blu ray has a lot of extras that are actually worth while, unlike most BD releases.

My fave bit was a "Marvel One-Shot" which fleshed out why Tony Stark was sent to talk to the General about the Avengers Initiative at the end of The Hulk, instead of Nick Fury. Brilliant.
