What do you mean technicality? Movie ratings are gov't censorship. There are laws. There are fines. There's the fucking FCC and the MPAA (probably just as corrupt and bloated and full of shit as the gov't).

Perhaps I should've qualified, "minute victories against gov't censorship."

If you don't want your kid watching a certain flick for any reason whatsoever, fine by me. If somebody else disagrees, they ought to be able to let their kid go to see it. If the parents of the world feel overwhelmed by the difficulty of keeping track of all that shit, then they can form all the organizations they want and impose their own guidelines on their own kids. Not other people's kids.

You think you are fucking with me, but you are not.

Saying there needs to be a law about this is like saying there needs to be a law to keep baseball players from climbing into the stands to beat fans with baseball bats in an attempt to woo the S&M crowd. Parents would freak if a theater showed a porno ad at a kiddie film, and that theater would lose that entire demographic immediately.

It would just be bad business.

... which reminded me of how often folks around here are preaching such extremes as of late. Not just the word of forum folks, but also of other folks whose words we post either to heed or laugh at. It is rapidly becoming an annoyance for me.

I do that a fair amount, I admit. And it's pretty roughly split 50/50 with half the time that is my actual position (I'm a fairly extreme anarchist, and I mean it in all seriousness). But the other half of the time I'm not so much debating as engaging in a twisted form of forum performance art and don't actually believe the extreme position I'm advocating.

As to when I'm doing which, I leave that as an exercise to the reader.
