Have to say, I'm suspect of any vote that has one end fall below 7 or 8 %. About 7% think the moon landing was faked. So whenever we have fewer than that agreeing on something, I smell something less than kosher.

Declaration of recognition signed. Sanctions put into place by EU and US. Funniest line from the US?
The U.S. goal, President Obama said, is “to isolate Russia for its actions, and to reassure our allies and partners” of American support.

"If ANYONE dares to question your national sovereignty, or invades you, rest assured, the US WILL condemn them using somewhat harsh words."

Ukraine military leadership twiddles thumbs while their troops are assaulted. This somehow isn't covered under Article 5 of the NATO agreement.

Obama is going to do whatever hurts his party's chances in the next election the least. Period.

Seriously though, what are we going to do about it?
We kinda went all-in and blew our war budget in the middle east already.

Russia is in far, far, far worse position to conduct serious armed operations. They have no trouble smacking around Ukraine because that one country has zero chance of successfully resisting. If the US, Germany, France, and the UK (key UN members) decided to step up and grow just a couple balls and present a hard, unified front, Vlad would have no choice but to back down because the rest of NATO would jump in at that point. He's not stupid, he's not suicidal. Russia's frenemy of many decades, China, wasn't lending support in the UN Security Council because even they can't see this going anywhere. China, the nation still engaging in a pissing contest over this, thinks Vlad's on shaky ground. They aren't willing to risk getting sanctioned or punished because their oh-so-rockin' economy is more fragile than they let on. A billion unemployed, starving, pissed off citizens makes a gov't nervous. They have a hard enough time keeping shit together over there as it is.

Wtf? Was Kramer right?
"Unarmed" protesters somehow seize military base.
Earlier, several hundred unarmed protesters seized a Ukrainian naval base at Novofedorivka, western Crimea.
"Protesters" use a couple APCs to storm a base.
In Belbek, two armoured personnel carriers burst through the wall of the base followed by Russian troops firing weapons in the air.
Ukrainian commanders either being paid off or defecting.
The Belbek base commander earlier told the few dozen troops still there to shoot in the air if they were attacked.

Wondered this since I saw the vote on the Crimea thing in Russia. Here's the next Russian politician who's going to die mysteriously.
Also, Ukraine's FM pulls a Godwin.

This just keeps getting better.
Obama explains how we disapprove, but aren't actually going to do anything substantial. Most male-to-female post-ops have more balls than he does.
Anti-Russian Ukrainian dude shot dead.
Rumsfeld chimes in with a ... wait for it ... racist remark.

The was a former KGB officer that predicated back in the early 80’s that the soviets might fake the collapse of the USSR, even with his predicting the fall of the Berlin wall as part of the deception. While I have serious doubts that any government could pull something like that off as efficiently as would be required, but design or accident I think the fall of the Soviet Union has destroyed the America we used to be.
While there was a Soviet Union, I don’t think we’d have ever passed the ACA (Obamacare). That’s too close to commie socialism. Or Bush’s free drug program, for that matter. I have serious doubts that the NSA snooping programs would have reached the scope that they have. Spying on your own citizens is something commie bastards do. Not Americans. Suing the Air Force because of a nativity scene at Christmas? Are you some sort of godless commie or something?
Now it looks like the Soviets may be trying to get the old band back together again. And can the United States morally stand in opposition now? Because we’re looking a whole lot like they were 25 years ago.
So if all this has been some sort of KGB plot, I don’t think they could have scripted it better than it’s been happening. But again, if (any) government was that competent, I wouldn’t have the issues with them that I do.

No. He spied on anyone he didn't like. Just because he saw everyone as a red doesn't mean they were.

Regardless of what he thought, that was one man's excesses and abuse of power. What the NSA is doing is a systemic abuse that cuts to the core of who we are as free Americans.
Never pegged you to be defending the NSA Malcolm.
