So would I, if only they'd keep an appropriate speed and let me know somehow before they turn and brake. Perhaps a custom body job that allows for semi-transparent plastic casings that house LED lights to be placed on the external body of the car so that one could signal their turns beforehand. Then you'd need to rig a control system so the driver could use it from inside. But that kind of thing is years away from being standard.Sometimes peeps gotta turn left. I allow for that.
That will change quickly over time. As soon as cars with significant self-driving capabilities start to become common then insurance rates will fork. Insurance will be really cheap for those who let their cars do all the driving and absurdly expensive for those who insist on driving themselves. Pretty quickly it'll move to a "one manual-driving wreck and you can no longer be insured AT ALL" policy being standard. Then with a mere single wreck those resisting will be off the road.But something tells me the people that need them the most will resist the hardest.
Sheriff William Schatzman of the Forsyth County Sheriff Department in North Carolina sadly reports the death of Deputy Sheriff John Isenhour.
Deputy Isenhour, 38, was struck by a hit and run vehicle while he was directing traffic for the Bike Tour to Tanglewood, an annual cycling event. Deputy Isenhour sustained critical injuries in the crash as a result of being thrown over the vehicle. He was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he remained in the intensive care unit on life support. Sadly, Deputy Isenhour succumbed to his injuries ten days later.
The suspect vehicle and its 92 year old female driver were located a short time later. The 2006 Lexus sedan had extensive damage to the front bumper, windshield, rear deck and trunk area. The driver, who has multiple restrictions on her driving privileges, stated that she didn’t know that she had struck anyone.
