Burn Notice

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Just started season 1, halfway through the first two-parter... It's pretty good, but has a little too much USA-vibe, and voiceovers.

I love the voiceovers.

As for the USA-vibe...it comes and goes based on episode. There are some very light hearted episodes, but there are some very serious ones as well.

RE: the "USA-vibe" ... well, duh. It was Psych and Burn Notice together that were the big successes of the network's original programming, and thus created the "USA-vibe" to begin with.

I don't watch USA, so the USA-vibe is a new thing to me. My wife and I watched that girl spy chick thing a bit... meh.

Is there a grittier version of this show somewhere?

Monk was the creator of the success. Let's give credit where credit is due.

Monk was such a ratings hit for cable that ABC aired repeats of it during summer months.

Anyway, Monk, Psych, and Burn Notice are all great shows.

I also still think USA really missed an opportunity when they didn't grab Chuck when NBC cancelled it. It was getting ratings like Psych and Burn Notice, and it had the "USA-vibe".

This one does get a bit grittier as the series progresses. Not a whole lot, but a measurable amount.

While the genre, setting, story, and characters are all very different, I think if I had to pick a grittier show with similar themes playing through it I'd suggest Scandal.

Yes! I knew I was forgetting something important but couldn't quite pinpoint it. Good call.

Fi is hot. Damn hot. The random Miami eye candy, while PG, is still nice.

Problem with Fi is there's going to be some kind of relationship crap at some point. People are going to get sappy.

I kept thinking she seemed somewhat familiar. Finally googled and found this. Hard to believe I'd remember her for 20 years, but who knows.

I agree.... I think at one point in this thread I said that yeah, she is a bit of a scarecrow, but there is something about a woman who can wire explosives to secure the perimeter before she takes position with a sniper rifle, and smile the entire time. It is hard to type this with a massive erection.

She has 4 kids in real life and has a body most 20 years olds would kill to have. She is top shelf.

I think they made some mistakes in Season 2. There was at least one episode where yogurt was neither mentioned nor seen.

I think the wife and I discussed that too.

I said, we'd have to watch it all over again to see if yogurt was hidden in the background of any scenes.

Right in the middle of the season, episodes 5/6 or 6/7, somewhere around there, two in a row with no yogurt that I can recall. That being said, I didn't really want to go back and rewatch just to make sure. But at the end I just thought "Huh, I dont remember yogurt" then though the same thing after the next.

His favorite food is yogurt, which is featured or eaten by at least one of the characters in each episode.

From wikipedia. Ugh, now I almost feel compelled to verify this.

Ok, episode 5 season 3 - no yogurt. Pretty sure no yogurt in ep 4, but not 100%

Are you checking all the ads on billboards and the sides of cabs and whatnot?

No. The wikipedia quote was a character eating/talking about it, so I was purely looking at character interactions.

I'm pretty sure there were a few Seinfeld episodes where Superman wasn't seen or discussed either.

There's a Superman figure in the background of Jerry's apartment. So he's pretty much in every episode.
