I think basketball is a sport where it's pretty obvious who has it and who doesn't. It's rare that a 2nd rounder becomes a star.

Hey, remember when the Dallas Mavericks sent a generational player, Luka Donkic, to the Lakers for often hurt Anthony Davis, who is NOT a generational player, and basically nothing else? They only engaged the Lakers about trading Luka leaving the rest of the league in the dark. This made many really skeptical that the trade was really orchestrated by the NBA to prop up a floundering Lakers team. Supported by every other team claiming they would have offered the Mavs way more. Meanwhile, the Mavs claimed Davis was a better option to lead them to a championship.

A year later the Mavs have traded Davis.

The NBA is WWE, but with a ball.

There was almost something interesting in the NBA.
The NBA has scrapped the Atlanta Hawks’ “Magic City Monday” event following “significant concerns” from league stakeholders.

The promotion was intended to honor the renowned Atlanta strip club, Magic City.

The Hawks had planned to “celebrate the city’s iconic cultural institution” during next Monday’s home game against the Orlando Magic at State Farm Arena.

That feels like something that would absolutely match the vibe of the NBA.

The NBA is a parody of a professional sports league

Great question.

It's important to note that this guy is the back to back league MVP.

Has it really been a decade ago since our last championship?! I hope it's not another 52 years between titles..

The NBA is setup for the major markets to win, so I wouldn't hold your breath for the next one.

It's going to be Cleveland or an old timers team in Golden State.

Celtics send Jaylen Brown to 76ers for nothing.

Giving up one of the league's best players for nothing is interesting. I have to think the Celtics were hamstrung by Brown's max contract and the holes in his game plus rumored attitude issues meant dumping him was the best way to rebuild. I'll be curious to see if they move these assets or continue to move off other players as well.

It feels like they're signaling that next year is a throwaway and they're gearing up for 2-3 seasons after that. By then the 76ers new super team and the Knicks both should be dismantled.

The 76ers are sending Paul George, two first-round picks (2028, 2031) and two second-round selections (2028, 2030) to Boston to complete the deal, sources said.
Is that nothing?

Last year was supposed to be a rebuilding year, too, and they were 2nd in their conference.
