Members of Black Lives Matter held a solidarity rally on Monday night with the more than 100 individuals who were arrested after a night of looting and unrest in Chicago.

The rally was held at the South Loop police station where organizers say those individuals are currently being held in custody.

“I don’t care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats,” Ariel Atkins, a BLM organizer, said. “That makes sure that person has clothes.”

Black Lives Matter Chicago organized the rally after overnight unrest throughout the city, with police saying that more than 100 individuals were taken into custody for a variety of offenses, including looting.

“That is reparations,” Atkins said. “Anything they wanted to take, they can take it because these businesses have insurance.”

It's all very far away from my house, I'm barely aware that it's happening. But cities have been under a constant state of turmoil for a while now, Trump is constantly threatening to send in the National Guard, and there is a greater than zero chance it isn't going to simmer down, and will escalate and spread.

Both sides are accusing the other of the worst fascist actions, and both sides are both right, and wrong. Passions are getting inflamed, and no one sees the big picture. A world without police forces is going to be MUCH worse than one with an overzealous police force. All of our modern fiction/art of the last 100+ years has clearly illustrated that our fellow humans are the real monsters of the world.

I've always submitted that national troops would not fire on innocent Americans... but if one side arms themselves, and starts attacking federal troops, they will fire back.

A right winger was shot and killed this weekend in Portland by the peaceful protesters.

Trump calls out the mayor. The mayor and governor respond by blaming Trump.

Keep in mind, these are the peaceful protesters who just recently attempted to barricade a police station with dozens of cops and civilians inside and then it on fire. That prompted the mayor to publicly ask them to not do that anymore. So, you know, he's been SUPER tough on the protesters!

Since trump is all about "angry rhetoric," any and all violence everywhere is his fault.

And to be clear, I'm not condoning either side. But I would blame the Trump people more than 50%. But Portland needs to get it's shit under control.

Oregon state police called into Portland.

Governor Kate Brown, a Democrat, announced a plan on Sunday that she said would allow for peaceful protest while cracking down on lawlessness that has often accompanied demonstrations since the May 25 killing of George Floyd, the Black man who died under the knee of a white police officer in Minneapolis.

“Every Oregonian has the right to freely express their views without fear of deadly violence. I will not allow Patriot Prayer and armed white supremacists to bring more bloodshed to our streets,” Brown said in a statement.

Kate Brown is a jackass playing politics. The violence has been going on for a lot longer than the right wing counter protesters have been there you twat.
