Today in Sexism
Re: Today in Sexism
ABC cancels the Bachelorette after video surfaces of its star committing DV.
A massive L for women today. One of their favorite shows is cancelled and it's because a woman was violent with her husband.

Congress is automating registration for the draft...for men.
Can we stop oppressing women and let them fight wars too?

It was so weird to me that I had to manually register. Like, they know I existed and was the right age, so why not make it automatic?Leisher wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 11:06 am Congress is automating registration for the draft...for men.

Your question is legit, and maybe that's why they're finally fixing it?

It feels more complicated + nuanced than Aella is making it, but yeah.
It's not me, it's someone else.
Re: Today in Sexism
Agree with you, and I'll take it a step further:
Men and women's brains are different. We do not approach things the same way and we prioritize things different. We have vastly different processing abilities and problem solving skills. Thus, it is inherently wrong to assume each sex should/would operate the same way.

I mean, I'm offering.

Re: Today in Sexism
No thanks, and it hurts me to say that. I do believe she's an absolutely gorgeous woman.
Did you know she's 5'10"? I did not. I never really got into her as a sex symbol because I'm not a fan of giants, and I thought she was 6'-something.
However... First of all, women who make statements like that are usually full of shit. My entire single life was women saying such things only to want more afterwards. Secondly, if she means it, she's probably damaged and has built walls to defend herself. The problem is the walls are a mistake. Going down this road, she has two adopted kids and she has revealed one to be a transgirl. She keeps their lives super private, except that little tidbit which she revealed. How interesting. Even more interesting that she doesn't want a man in her life and her adopted boy becomes a girl. Hmmm. Seems like she's been very hurt by a man in the past.
I'll climb out on a limb here and say, "a rich, single movie star that probably has some trauma with men, and who has a trans kid that she had to publicize is not going to be a good time."
I learned a long time ago that looks do not necessarily equal a good time in bed. Personality matters far more, and there are red flags all around her.
But that's all just my opinion.

Re: Today in Sexism
Charlize Theron's father, Charles Theron, was an alcoholic who was shot and killed by her mother, Gerda Maritz, on June 21, 1991, in an act of self-defense. At age 15, Charlize witnessed her father drunkenly threaten her and her mother with a gun and shoot through their home's door in South Africa.

Random thought:
Boys lie - They might get laid when they otherwise might not have.
Girls lie - Boy's life can be irreparably ruined.

Not all heroes wear capes.
Cake, thanks for confirming my theory. I did not know that about her.
"Boys lie", meanwhile over in the world of women:
-make up
-push up bras
-corsets
-boob jobs
-tummy tucks
-BBLs
-plastic surgery
-infidelity numbers are nearly equal with men (3% overall difference and women are trending upward)
-lying about paternity
-the golddigger epidemic
-botox
I don't know, maybe your teacher was a bigot or a lesbian who was grooming you?

Re: Today in Sexism
What does that have to do with anything? Show me where rape was mentioned by anyone, including the author of the tweet.
We're talking about lying, not about a physical act of violence.

Re: Today in Sexism
Inventing a quote doesn't mean the OP or I were discussing it.
FYI: Women rape too.
Also, "I'm on the pill", "I love you", "It's your baby", and so on. I didn't even get into removing consent after the fact and false allegations.
Let's not pretend men hold the exclusive rights to bad behavior.
kath's teacher was spreading division and hate based on her own beliefs. Not sure why you're trying to excuse it when it could be replaced by ANY other bullshit statement about another demographic and you'd likely condemn it (I don't know which demographics you like or hate).

Re: Today in Sexism
Cuz I feel like girls that age need the reminder, and men lie... a lot. Especially when trying to get in women's pants. I would trust the average woman a lot more than the average man.
It's not me, it's someone else.
Re: Today in Sexism
Ok, I understand that thinking, but the message the teacher provided was ultimately a terrible message.TheCatt wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 7:58 am Cuz I feel like girls that age need the reminder, and men lie... a lot. I tell my girls all the time, "A guy will say anything to get into your pants." I then explain to them how to tell the difference between a guy with good intentions and one with not so good intentions.
I don't say, "All men are untrustworthy, will rape you, and you should hate them." Unfortunately, that's the message that teacher is delivering and kate is now applying to her man troubles.
Incidentally and generally speaking, again removing "rape" from the equation as that's a whole other thing, men's lies tend to equate to a potentially regrettable sexual encounter, while women's lies tend to potentially lead to a lifetime of paying for it.
Also, you are clearly susceptible to a honey pot operation. (Don't feel bad about that. I am too.)
