Better Off Ted

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Just finished watching all 9 seasons of Scrubs on Netflix. It suggested a few other series to watch. One of which was Better Off Ted. I tried it and liked it. I've only watched one episode, but it was pretty good.

5 episodes in and really diggin' this show.

One episode, the company installed new motion sensors that didn't sense black people. While talking about it:

Ted: ". . . . . it's racist."
Veronica: "The legal team talked about it. Since the sensors don't 'target' black people, the just don't sense them. So the worst people could call them is 'indifferent'."

Later, they install secondary, manual devices 'for blacks'.

Then they hire minimum wage white people to shadow the black people so things would activate.

Then they had to worry about discrimination from only hiring white people for that position.

8 black guys trapped in an elevator because the buttons didn't sense them.

Guy1: "We shouldn't have let that white guy get off the elevator."
Guy2: "In an elevator with 8 black guys. Of course he got off."

Awesome episode from start to finish.

One of the fake commercials for the company they all work for. It's talking about supporting individuality.

"You can't spell individual without Veridian"
"Individ a "
And 'U'
And an L.

Another commercial:
"At Veridian. We're like a family. And that's why we work nights, weekends and all major holidays. Because that's when families should be together."

This show was pretty awesome, got bogged down here and there, and sadly... canceled.

The wife and I loved this show. Brilliant cast, but it never got the ratings.

It sucks to shows like this get canceled, while the cut and paste bullshit dominates the airwaves. I'm sure this great show was canceled to make way for CSI: Topeka or the newest whacky group of friends sitcom.

Watched the first episode over lunch.

The fact that I never knew the premise of this show meant I never watched it while it aired, and with a show like this, I would have made the effort to at least set the DVR and the help the ratings.

This show died because of shitty marketing. Probably because HR hired marketing people based on their education instead of their talent and ability.

An HR department caused this show to fail, is my guess.
