New contract with Sirius.
Apparently, Wednesday was going to be his last show unless a deal was worked out. He claimed he was getting big offers from elsewhere.
I'm amazed he's still such a massive draw (apparently, the biggest draw on satellite radio). Not really because of him, but because I didn't know so many people have Sirius.
Howard Stern
Stern, 61, renewed his contract with Sirius in 2010 for five years, with reports and analysts pegging his annual salary at $80 million per year. He is the biggest draw on satellite radio, and his departure could be a massive setback for Sirius.
As BloombergBusiness reported Monday, industry survey data suggests that the company "could lose more than $240 million in annual revenue" if Stern bolts.
Wow.
It's not me, it's someone else.

Howard Stern is the mega-god all-star of radio. He's so far fucking above all the others in terms of listening time and ratings, it's not even funny. I can't remember where I read the numbers (I want to say Matthew Berry's weekly ESPN love/hate column), but they are positively staggering.
On average, folks who like him tune in for all his shit. That's a large amount right there. But the stat that puts him over the top is the demographic that doesn't like him. They still dial up in droves, and they listen for ten times longer than most audiences that like the host.

I think he was on some local station for a while once, and I liked his movie so I tried listening to him, but I found him to be incredibly irritating.
Doesn't Sirius come preloaded 6 months for free on... like... every new car? I know I got exactly 10 calls over a week when my latest new car's subscription expired... they wanted badly to get a credit card number from me. I even told them no on about the 5th call, and she said she would call me back later to talk to my wife.

Yeah, I remember when he was on locally. It was a big deal at the time, but I wasn't a regular listener.
I enjoyed his movie though.
