Probably really good advice since...

Smith has a massive heart attack.

He's alive and well, but this should be a wake up call. Being overweight, sedentary, a heavy smoker (of cigarettes and pot), frequent traveler, etc. don't lead to a healthy life.

I was going through ancient tweets to delete + make sure I don't get canceled. I told him to lose weight. It's my first recorded tweet. lol I'm going to take credit for this.

Please say that isn't true.

Smith is now a vegan who does the fasting stuff.

I delete most everything I do on social media. But it's not a fear of being canceled, just don't like to leave traces to myself.

I feel like we might need to put your kids in witness protection...

Went to Scum and Villainy last night where he does his podcast. Was an interesting place, made out like a Star Wars cantina with lots of nerd themed drinks

I can appreciate that attitude. One can choose to stop being negative about everything.

Yeah, he's had that attitude for a lot of years now. Even his co-host of Hollywood Babble-On, Ralph Garmin, gives him shit for it.

It's honestly pretty respectable considering how much the industry and that town has shit on him. People bash on Smith, but he genuinely was a trendsetter who fought the Hollywood system. He's never claimed to be more talented than he was or that his films were better than they were. Yeah, his wife is basically a blonde version of my wife and her extreme left politics rub off on him, but he even tempers that knowing that his life is different from most of his audience's.

It's always weird to me he married the only homely one out of that girl thief squad in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

And then her browneye proceeded to pwn his dick.

I appreciate his attitude, but I also think he's WAY too generous in approving of other people's art.

Stephen King is good for that. He praises ebulliently movies and stuff that are absolutely horrible. A good review from him actually makes me cautious.

Also fair. Though, he didn't like The Shining movie adaptation.
King has made it clear why he hates it. The book was about a father dealing with his alcoholism and failing his family. It was personal for King. The movie just makes Jack an ass from the start. The meat of the story to King was Jack and his family dynamic. That's mostly gone from the movie.
Which is fair.

I think King's work is overrated, which is an odd thing to say because I think he's a great writer. However, not everything he writes is the bee's knees as many try to make it out to be. I think Family Guy nailed it when they did the bit with him at his publisher.

I also still want to know about "Under the Dome" and "Girls". King wrote the first and it published in 2009. Johnathan Luna wrote Girls which published in May 2005. Both are about cities suddenly under domes, both involve aliens, both have the map of the town on the inside cover, etc.

It's interesting to me how he and Koontz get lumped together when their writing styles are so different. Same genre, but that's it. King is wordy, spending pages on a bit character's backstory, while Koontz is more action oriented, less descriptive, but more plot.

Anyway, King ranting over.

Smith is indeed too nice about other people's stuff, and I think it's his way of staying "in" the industry. I've followed his work since the beginning, and he wasn't always like this, and I'm not saying he was ever super critical. However, he could give real criticism. Now he lacks even that. It would not surprise me if his wife told him to play nice. It's not horrible advice for that shitty culture, but it was a noticeable change.

She was a journalist for USA Today and went to interview him. They ended up fucking and he married her. And yeah, she is not my type at all. I also don't think she worked a day after that interview. Make your own judgment about that.
