I was going to say, the trailers looked like Indiana Jones crossed with the DaVinci Code.

Freemasonry/Illuminati/conspiracy/secret society bullshit : - .5
Mr. White : + .5

Subtotal 1 : 0 stars

Synopsis :

Benjamin Franklin Gates looks for a massive 3000-year old treasure last hidden away by the founding fathers.

Review :

Imagine a K-Mart version of MacGvyer & a third-rate Indiana Jones w\ a bad hangover. Now imagined they produced offspring. You have the protagonist for this flick. Couple w\ this a whining blonde & pussy tech dude, & the quintessential obsessive multi-billionaire villain looking for long-lost treasure. The plot isn't much to think about & the action sequences ain't that great, but overall, it was a halfway-semi-decent distraction of a film. Compared to the other shit out, it's probably in the top half o' things to see. It's just average & predictable. An entertaining renter mayhaps one day, but a renter nonetheless. You ain't missing shit if you don't see it. Just watch an Indiana Jones flick or wait till Indy 4 releases.

Subtotal 2 : 2.5 stars

Subtotal 1 + Subtotal 2 : 2.5 stars

Verdict : Worth seeing if your wife's got a book club meeting or something & volunteered your house.

Good movie/Nicholas Cage continuing the Dr. Goodspeed-chemical superfreak character from The Rock/now is an American history superfreak.

Good flick.

Cage was born to play "nerd adventures".

This probably the first film I've actually looked forward to the DVD release so I could purchase it.

I found a continuity error in the movie.

Sorta spoiler, read no further if you haven't seen it.

Nic Cage lists off keystrokes that had the fourescent paint on them, and his homeboy feeds those letters into a program that spits out possible combinations of those letters.

One option is "VALLEY FROG" which gets Nic to thinking... "AHA! The password is VALLEY FORGE and she hit the 'l' and 'e' twice!"

Which is where the problem is. She hit the 'e' twice, so we got 'frog' instead of 'forge.' But she also hit the 'l' twice, and it should never have offered 'VALLEY' as a possible word.

I heard rumors about a sequel long ago. Now with the Da Vinci Code, I'd have to guess a sequel is guaranteed.

National Treasure - I saw it:)

The tech geek says "VALLEY FROG" but it's "VALEY FROG" on-screen. At least, in the version I'm watching. It may have been fixed in the past 12 years.

At any rate...

Oh, this claims to be a video from the original: https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/43b4215c-3 ... ef3aa2489a

This movie was... OK.
