This movie came out in 1995, and stars John Travolta, Gene Hackman and Rene Russo.

It's adapted from the Elmore Leonard book. His writing is usually a bit light, but entertaining - airplane reading.

This movie is similarly light, following John Travolta as a shylock who decides he wants to get into the movie business. The movie cruises with a "you know everything will be alright in the end" attitude. A simple movie, simple plot, few twists here and there.

Overall, it's OK, 6.5/10. the humour is light, the action is light... it's... light.

"Get Shorty" would have been a good sub-title for the Lord of the Rings movies.
