New Line Cinema took over the franchise & gives Jason more of a mythical, supernatural twist. The hero & heroine fall flat on their face & Jason only appears in a couple scenes, but Sean Cunningham manages to inject a fragment of cult coolness missing from the sequels. Steven Williams (the head cop from "21 Jump Street") is probably the most competent actor in the series since Corey Feldman in IV. He's got a supporting role as a bounty hunter set out to permanently kill Jason. Unfortunately, the script suffers from the same character idiocy that seems to run rampant in films of this natures. Nevertheless, it beats the hell outta any other sequel but III.

Verdict : 2.5 stars.

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday

I've never been a big Friday the 13th fan, but I remember renting this film simply to watch the guest appearance in the last scene.
