Under $20

At Circuit City

It's about $15 shipped. It's not the game of the year edition though. So all the cool add-ons cost money. Like Counter Strike and stuff.

Also, I think that link sez it is out of stock online, and not available in-store. In the "How to get it" box.

But I'm not familiar with CC's website.

Yes but they will still cost $20 to download.

The Game of the Year edition is at amazon for $30. That comes with Half-Life 2, Half-Life Source, Counter-strike Source, and Half-Life Deathmatch for $30.

There is also a Xmas edition that will have that and Episode 1 I believe for $50.

I hit that link, click add to cart and it puts it there and asks if I want to check out. It's online only, can't pick it up in the store.

And you don't play CS cause you suck at FPS lol wtf newb.

Leisher got it for me for xmas.... I am now a STEAM user. But I didn't pay for it, so it's ok.

So I loaded it on my WinXPx64 system... I was all excited because I saw on the AMD64 fansites that Valve had a 64 bit version of this game that would install automatically on 64 bit operating systems.

I installed the game, STEAM installed with it, and my game started autopatching before I even opened STEAM for the first time.

Patching completed... I launch the game. It didn't even get to a loading screen... "Error on hl2.exe."

I troubleshoot, and eventually hit the valve support forums.... apparently Valve broke the 64 bit version of this game with the last STEAM patch on January 5th. There's no way to roll it back, and you can't even reload the game and install patches manually... STEAM always upodates everything, all the way. Good stuff. People with 64 bit systems are complaining, but they only get the generic "update your drivers" messages from tech support.

So.............................. maybe someday Valve will un-break the 64 bit version of the game so that I can play it.

They got the 64 bit version working sometime in the last few days.

Just FYI.

Just finished it.

Pretty good game.

I'm still glad I can say I never paid for STREAM, though. ;-)

I'll probably piuck up HL2: Ep1 sometime in the future.

Wait a couple of months for Ep1 as Ep2 should hit shelves soon which will cause EP1 to drop in price.

I've heard they're only doing 3 episodes for sure, and then after that, their plans are up in the air.

Considering the episodes are being made, at least partially, outside of Valve, I wonder what the rest of their staff is working on...?

Well, 2014 is just around the corner for HL3.

You already have Steam, so no delay required next time.

Plus, I think that's when Duke Nukem Forever is due out. So you'll want to save some hard drive space for that.

I've been thinking about it, and from all the games I've played, Farcry is the best...... but Half Life 2 may be the new best.

Both had great stories and gameplay. I think FC wins on gameplay, and HL2 on story. But they are so close to each other on both scores.

Have to give it some thought.

Damn, you really loved FarCry, huh? I wasn't that impressed with it. I thought it was really, really cool initially, but the cool factor wore off about halfway through for me.

Half-Life 2 wins my best ever FPS right now. I won't give it the edge in graphics as FarCry was gorgeous, but it definitely wins in game play and storyline. Big time props for the storyline as the HL world is fully realized. I know who people are when I see them in the game.

FC....... the binoculars which populated your HUD radar with targets...... the way you had to think about how you were going to approach a particular area due to how the enemy was laid out, and the absolutely flawless* graphics.

*As good as they get this side of Pixar, anyway.
