I just went looking for the old thread, and couldn't find it. If anybody else can find it, let me know and I'll merge the threads.

A while back... 6 months ago? I started a thread for an HBO commercial I saw about how they did a documentary on liberal radio network "Air America."

Then a day later, I'd heard that it was a really biting expose, showing how screwed up the station was.

Then now, I realize I hadn't heard anything about it ever since. Did HBO get sued over it, or something, and never air it?

I remeber there being people pissed about it and hearing it had been toned down. It was called Left of the Dial.

I never saw it though. I only watch America Undercover when they are about hookers.
Left of the Dial

Any idea what Air Americas rating are? I never hear anything good or bad.

Hrm. And I guess they never showed repeats, since I never even knew it aired.

I've heard the company couldn't be run worse if monkeys were in charge.... bills not getting paid, people locked out of offices, people asked to work for free, etc.

I remember something a while ago about Air America having very few listeners.

Some people delude themselves into thinking there isn't market saturation of liberal media, it's all convervative, and what we've all been waiting for is Air America to open our eyes.

XM Radio has a "left" station (and a "right" one). I'd be curious to see their numbers.

Considering new genres, acts, and/or personalities are picked up REALLY fast in the radio/satellite market, I'd say Air America isn't doing very well as nobody has stepped forward to pick them up. In fact, they've already been dropped from a few places if I've heard correctly.

And here we go.

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/7/18/3512/30654

In the days after the discovery of Deep Throat's identity, many people noted how Watergate would be impossible in today's political climate -- where partisanship trumps the truth inside a GOP machine so deeply entrenched in this country's governance structure that it controls the White House, House, Senate, Supreme Court, most appelate courts, and the media. And where the GOP can do no wrong, regardless of the ethical or criminal transgression.

Daily Kos is one of the most popular voices of the left. As is typical, Kos attributes his side's losing streak not to the fact that a majority of people still disagree with their ideas, but that the media is slanted too far to the right. Among other things.

Obviously a vast right wing consipiracy.

So.... who's left to think that the media in general is, like... in the middle somewhere?

Personally, and this is just my personal, gut feeling, is that CNN and such have made SMALL moves to go back to the middle, slightly. It seems to me that Fox has done the same.

I still FEEL the MSM skews left overall, though. Fox hasn't tipped any scale, there. My only argument supporting that is this Rove/Plame thing. I didn't really have an opinion on it until I heard that Aldrich Ames had already outted her in the 90's. I bet you haven't heard THAT little tidbit too often. But no, every question the press wants to ask is when he's going to fire Rove.

Here's the explanation, Gordon:

To Kos, "The Media" are mega-corporations owned by fat-cat capitalists. As we all know, fat-cat capitalist mega-corporation owners are all Republicans. Therefore, The Media is controlled by the GOP.

To us, "The Media," or more specifically "The Mainstream Media," are big city newspapers such as the NYT, WaPo, and LAT, and TV news such as the "big 3" networks and CNN. Their content is produced not by the fat-cat capitalist owners, but by journalists, 80+% of whom vote Democrat (source).

That is what we mean by a liberal bias in the media.

I think that if you compare the number of stories on Rove to the number of stories on the London bombings in the week following the terrorist attack you should get a pretty decent picture of which way our media leans.

It's sad really.

Karl Rove: 7,830
London Bombings: 42,500

There's 15 minutes a day when I'm on an eliptical trainer, and I have 3 TV's in front of me with CNN, FOX, and MSNBC on at the same time. Every day, in that 15 minute window, I see something about this Rove non-scandal on each station. Even on Fox. This implies, on those 3 stations, there's about 200 Rove stories a day.

There must be some aspect of this that I don't understand, for all the time it gets on the networks.

Oh yeah, and I may or may not see anything about 7/7.

Take out the actual day of the bombing (following day for print media) and compare them.

By the way, where'd you get your numbers?

Google news hit. It's the best I've got without any Lexus-Nexus connection. I guess it's world-wide, but there's prolly a way to fix for that. And since I only searched on "Karl Rove" any non-leak related Karl articles are included too.
