Which character in a movie has had the best death?

I'm going to go ahead and taint the thread out of the gate by suggesting Spock's death in Wrath of Kahn.

Just caught it on cable, and 20-some-odd years later, after hundreds of viewings, his funeral still gets me all faklempt.

The Nazi face melting in Raiders of the Lost Ark is pretty cool and Sonny Corleon goes down pretty memorably too.

That the one where... he had 5 minutes during the credts saying "ugh... ow... iggg..." while dieing?

I still say Spock's death is more visceral. I feel nothing anymore when I see the Nazis melt or Sonny go fishing. Or did Sonny get ventilated at the toll booth? Nah, fishing. Either way... I feel nothing.

Oooohhh...... here's another.......

Gandalf's fake death in Fellowship. Seeing the hobbits in uncontrollable grief after still gets me choked up.

Jaws' death. No, not in the first movie, in the 4th. When the shark lept from the water and was impailed on the tip of the boat... that was so... well, I think we can all agree that "awesome" doesn't quite cover what it was.

This site lists their top 50. I agree with a lot of them.

My real top half dozen: Psycho shower scene, the first chest burster in Alien, Drew Barrymore in Scream, the first victim in Jaws, the white-haired android's death at the end of Blade Runner.
Obi Wan battline Vader in E4 gets honorable mention.

That's actually a really tough question because there are so many ways you can look at it.

Which death was the coolest? Which way would you want to die? Which one chokes you up? Which one did you cheer for?

I don't know if there could be an overall "best" death, but if we did categories, we could ballpark something.

Well, I gave examples... and peeps took the question 90 degrees from what I intended.

The deaths that.... still touch you after 20 years, I guess. Like I said... melting nazis? yawn. Dead Spock/Kirk eulogy (you-googally)? Get all choked up.

Spock's death still gets me, yeah.

If dead people count, I always liked Field of Dreams. No deaths, but lots of dead people.

I just thought of a new category: funniest death. Cueball comes to mind. "That's too bad. I liked Cueball."

Hudsons death was cool, though I guess he doesn't really die in the scene but whatever.

Tommys death in Good Fellas pissed me off but was a great scene.

Saddest death ever... triple boobed chick in total recall, such a waste.

I'll update if anything comes to mind.

The nazi dying didn't choke me up the nazi faces getting melted off was just a good way for some bad guys to be taken out.

I don't think there are any fictional deaths that made me upset. E.T. dying was pretty sad but that is about it.

Bambi's mother dying hit me hard.
I wasn't really into Start Trek when I fist saw Spock die, so that didn't bug me.

What about Old Yellar? I had to read the book before seeing the movie, so it didn't hit me as hard. A lot of people said that scenee made them cry.

I was tempted to write out a long paragraph about how Leonardo's death in Titanic crushed my very soul, but just couldn't bring myself to do it.

I was just thinking of that. Though not technically his "death", the scene where he threw AJ back into the elevator always gives me a lump.
