Boba Fett may be cooler as well. I withhold judment of Fett's coolness until Luca is finished... and by finished I mean dead.

I should have left off the "Other". Ash doesn't even apply here as he's not in SciFi films. Bobba Fett is a minor character who was built up to be more by fan fiction.
Let's look at Kirk and Solo...
Ship:
Solo - Millenium Falcon
Kirk - Enterprise
Edge - Solo (no contest)
Sidekick:
Solo - A talking carpet
Kirk - Spock
Edge - Tie (Chewie is a one dimensional character, but he could kick Spock's ass.)
Stupid shit:
Solo - Ewoks
Kirk - Tribbles
Edge - Tie (they should both be ashamed)
Chicks:
Solo - Princess Leia
Kirk - Every chick in the known universe, even green bitches
Edge - Kirk (no contest)
Lowest Points:
Solo - Became a frozen pizza. Was portrayed as Inspector Clouseau in Jedi. In other words, a bumbling idiot. (He killed Bobba Fett by mistake, walked into a trap, and needed Ewoks to save him.)
Kirk - Was put onto a planet to suffer the same fate as his arch enemy. His son was killed. Spock died.
Edge - Kirk (Solo was saved by fucking Ewoks!!!)
Highest Point:
Solo - Had minor roles in destroying two death stars.
Kirk - Won the greatest space naval battle ever put to film and did so with style. Saved galaxy, Earth, all humans, Klingons, etc countless times.
Edge - Kirk (This was actually close in my mind for awhile, but its obvious Han is a bit player to the great drama that was Luke vs Vader.)
Memorable words:
Solo - "Ok kid, now let's blow this thing and go home."
Kirk - "KHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!"
Edge - Kirk (Let's blow this thing? Ugh.)
Disposal of arch enemy:
Solo - While blind, swung around and by total accident fired Bobba Fett's rockets so he fell into a giant mouth, which then belched.
Kirk - Put himself on the line to save his crew and surrendered to his enemy. Later tricked his enemy into thinking his ship was weaker than it was. Went on to win the ensuing battle.
Edge - Kirk (I spared Han from even more embarrassment by not even discussing Jabba the Hut who Han feared and was later killed by a bimbo in a bikini with a chain because he was too fat and worthless to move himself away from danger or fight her 105 pound ass off. Pathetic.)
The actor:
Solo - Hates the character and has said in interviews that he regrets it.
Kirk - Had trouble with being typecast, but has totally embraced the character and the fans.
Edge - Kirk (No contest)
I'm not sure Han could beat Picard in a coolest guy contest.

While I disagree with your overall conclusion, I can only find fault with your last individual point.
As much as I like Star Trek, Shatner is a total hack.

I have to vote Kirk. Yeah, Han was a frikkin pirate and broke all the rules, but Kirk was a military officer and still broke the rules whenever he saw fit to do so. He excelled as an officer in a peace-loving starfleet, and still managed to get an entire species of aliens to want him dead.

Han is just cooler, so he walked into a trap in Jedi, how many traps has Kirk walked into in his life, he was a clusterfuck of a captain. How many enterprises did he lose anyway. HE DIED IN A CATWALK ACCIDENT!

Han Solo is clearly the better of the two, everyone knows Star Wars blows Startrek outta the water. I'm surprized this poll is even made, it's that clear who's cooler
