I'm doing year end backups tonight, but if I'm home before 10, then I'd be game. (I have yet to reinstall SS2 or the patch since my scratch and reload. I'll do it when I get home tonight.)

Timorrow night is obviously out.

Sunday night might work out too. I think most people are off Monday as that's when the Feds are taking off.

Sounds like Sunday night then. First he's got to get home before 10, then he's got to reload and patch. . . if it happens, I could be available. But honestly, I'd rather wait till Sunday.

Translation: I don't want to play tonight, but I'll say it's Leisher's fault.

Actually, it did start out as an "It's Leisher's fault". But then, I did put in a vote for not playing tonight. HOWEVER. . . I did say I would do it if I had to. So, over all, it's more your fault than not.

And now to derail the thread a bit. You guys gonna start EVE any time soon? If you have already downloaded it, do it again so that you don't have to suffer through the stupid update. It errors about 50 times before it completes. It would be quicker to redownload and install than to patch.

If they complete the tutorial and the associated missions, they will end up with about 250k, plus an item worth 250k - 2million.

I think I'd be up for Sunday. I actually started playing Eve a few days ago but I joined the Minimtar or something. Got a million in scratch right now (sold my item from the agent the tutorial agent intoduces to you for 750k). Having fun running and gunning in my missile boat.

People still can't read and are joining the game, so you'll have to jump on gv when you are ready to join so I can open up for more players.

I apologize for my no show. I had to deal with family crap.

We got home late for a party and I logged on to join, although I would have been 30 minutes late (10:30 or so), and that's when the phone rang and I got to hear more drama.

If it weren't for families, the holiday season would be perfect.

An official patch was released yesterday...

And it's still a clusterfuck.

But at least elsewhere on that forum they announced SS3 was in the works.

And they released the Serious Editor so peeps can make their own maps.

And I guess here is an in-game browser, now...

But the game is still broken and is fairly unplayable in multi.

But they got that other stuff going for them.

You know, I'm so stunned that the PC Gaming industry is in a slump.

They release products that are half done and refuse to fix them.

They treat their customers like pirates by forcing them to have the CD in the drive all the time. Then force them to register online to play the game. Then force them to accept the installation of crap like Starforce that can break their PC and tell them tough if their game doesn't work because of it.

They charge $50.00 on average for these games many of which have less than 10 hours of gameplay and/or would be refered to as "shit".

Next to the PC game racks in stores is always a shelf of games at $9.99 which is basically shareware that may or may not work on up to date PCs. Nowhere on the packages does it say that more money will be required to get all the features promised on the box cover.

They are focused now on MMOs, not because that's what the public is demanding, but because it offers them the greatest profit versus their development costs. There are something like 70 MMOs in development. Why? The market isn't that big. Approx. 65 of these games are doomed to fail.

Innovation isn't dead, but the corporate mindset that is currently dominating the PC Gaming business is keeping it mute. Corporations don't want to take a chance on something new when they can simply make a sequel and be guaranteed cash.

Meanwhile, the developers give their customers the ability to mod their games. No longer do people play a game and put it away when done. They can now get hours and hours of content online for free. Some mods like Counter Strike can increase a game's "life" by years.

The stores that sell these games don't take enough responsibility. They won't take back an opened game thinking the person pirated it or beat it, but how about games that don't work out of the box. This has happened a lot in the past. Ascension comes immediately to mind and I remember a few games that would delete your Windows installation when you removed the game. Where is the protection for the consumer? Games like that should be removed from shelves.

Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc. all sell games no matter their quality, yet all claim to sell superior merchandise in the name of the customer.

And they can't figure out why their sales are down. They blame it all on piracy. Morons.

The customer does share some of the blame though.

They need to stop buying crap. Look for reviews before purchasing something. gamerankings.com is a great site.

They need to try original games. Psychonauts was considered to be one of the best games last year and an instant classic by the gaming press, but nobody bought it. Meanwhile, Doom 3 sold a shitload of copies and was essenially the same game as Castle Wolfenstein only prettier.

And yeah, they need to stop pirating. Well, let me rephrase that: If you pirate games or play them and you get a game that just kicks ass in it's quality like Oblivion, Half-Life, F.E.A.R., Indigo Prophecy, etc. then go buy a copy. Support the developers who are making the quality games. Send a message with your wallet. Pirating the game and then getting on a message board to praise it doesn't mean shit. Only your wallet's vote counts in this matter.

Back on topic, Serious Sam and its expansion kicked ass. SS2 was a steaming pile of shit and if they think I'll spend any money on SS3 they're nuts. Realistically, I'll keep an eye on it because the first two games were good, but it's going to have to get good reviews before I shell out cash for it.
