Right. Nobody needs to take care of themselves when the government will take care of them instead.

I'm reminded of an old proverb, African, I think: "The grain belongs to he who owns it, not he who needs it."

I almost made a new thread for this link, but then I realized it fit perfectly in this thread. It's important to know who the masters are in The New Slavery.

http://www.wcnc.com/news/topstories/stories/091205-ad-wcnc-farrakhan.4fb21767.html

"I heard from a very reliable source who saw a 25 foot deep crater under the levee breach. It may have been blown up to destroy the black part of town and keep the white part dry," Farrakhan said.

"Hopelessness" is a major hinderance to someone improving themselves, and race pimps like Farrakhan make sure black people know the whole world is against them, whether legit or not.

Great idea. Now we just need Bill Shatner to steal some dilithium crystals to fuel the portal.
Wadda mean? Other people can read this?!

Where is the MSM to drag his name through the mud?

If a white guy made a statement like that, it'd be the leading story on every news show for the next three days.

I wouldn't say that's entirely true or false due to the fact that both Michael Moore and Jesse Jackson get air time.

However, maybe a list needs to be published of white people whom the world can ignore?

For example:
-Joan Rivers
-Sean Penn
-Michael Moore
-Michael Jackson
-Ted Kennedy
-Anybody from France
-Any televangelist

And in return a list can be created of black people the world can ignore:
-Farrakhan
-OJ
-Al Sharpton
-Terrell Owens

You know, if the MSM stopped focusing on assholes that just want to play the blame game and cause more divide among the people, and started focusing on actual leaders who want to unite everyone and actually solve problems, we'd all be in better shape.

It's too bad that positive news doesn't sell papers.

On the bright side, negative news is selling fewer and fewer papers every year, too.

The internet will save us from the negativity of the mass media, and replace it with the negativity of distributed sources. Not really any better, I admit, but at least it's more decentralized.

Right. Bloggers who over-react to every bloody thing are much better.

You must think me insane if you think I'd try to put Bush on the list. He's a good leader in part because he follows through with his convictions, but he's not a uniter. Nor is he charismatic or a good public speaker.

Actually, I'm not sure that's a fair question anymore since the MSM does everything it can to expose any aspect of a leader's personal life. Not to mention all the spinning that occurs by various news sources on every word that comes out of people's mouths.

Do I believe in good leaders? Yes.
Do I think anyone out there is perfect? No.
Do I think the MSM makes it very difficult to seperate the bad ones from the good ones? Absolutely.

Well, I for one would like to see a politican come forward who says "Yes, I smoked pot and did crack, but I don't anymore and I don't condone it. Yes, I've done all these other things, too, but I'll still be a damn good leader."

The conventional wisdom is to hide and spin everything, but I'd rather see someone step up, take responsibility for thier past, and carry on as if it were ... well, the past. I think someone like that would, if they were any good otherwise, do quite well. It'd be a huge breath of fresh air.

Weeks later, my words are still echoing.
THEY DANCED WITH WHO BRUNG THEM

During the past week I read story after story about how so many of New Orleans' middle and upper income residents were able to flee the city as Katrina approached, but the poor were left to fend for themselves. The difference here wasn't money. The difference here was attitude. It was the self-sufficient vs. the dependent. The evil rich and middle-income residents fled New Orleans because they are used to accepting the responsibility for their own welfare and safety. The poor stayed behind because they're mired in the sludge of generation after generation of dependency on government. The accomplished class knows that they bear the responsibility for meeting their own needs and providing for their safety. The poor by-and-large bear no such responsibility. To them, it's the government's job. Instead of taking responsibility for their own safety --- they just sat there, waiting for government to come and save them. The achievement-oriented residents of New Orleans were spared the horrors of the violence and filth that followed the flooding because they kept doing what they had been doing all along -- accepting responsibility. The poor were subjected to the violence and filth because they also kept doing what they had been doing all along -- depending on government.

Hurricane Katrina illustrated the truth behind the contention that poverty is a behavioral disorder.

That's clearly a hate crime, as opposed to crimes motivated by, you know, a general sense of concern for the victim.

Rewarded for being completely reliant on government, then confused when government isn't there to take care of them.
HOUSTON, Texas (AP) -- Wilma Skinner would like to scream at the officials of this city. If only they would pick up their phones.

"I done called for a shelter, I done called for help. There ain't none. No one answers," she said, standing in blistering heat outside a check-cashing store that had just run out of its main commodity. "Everyone just says, 'Get out, get out.' I've got no way of getting out. And now I've got no money."

Yup. Ultimately it is up to each individual to take responsibility for themselves. We humans should help each other as much as we can, but the bottom line is that those who can't help themselves to get through this ... well, it's what's called survival of the fittest.

I thought the more proper phrase was "survival of the most progenous."
