I hate Wal-Mart. But I sure as hell won't make anyone stop shopping there. I dislike them because they hire the dumbest pieces of shit to work in their stores and they never bother to stock anything much less clean up day old soda spills on the floor (the ones in W. Texas where I used to live at least). Since I expect a clean, well stocked, and satisfactory shopping experience, I'll gladly pay a few extra $$ for it. I figure I'm a good little capitalist who votes with his dollars rather than bitches and moans about everyone else's choice and begs the government to intervene and prevent my feelings from getting hurt. Wal-Mart cleans up their act? I go back to shopping there. Simple as that. No hidden agenda or socialist motives here

As someone who does work in Walmarts(not an employee) I have come to know the place quite well.
I believe that walmart actually helps the nation as a whole because they employ people who would not be able to get a job anywhere else. So walmart takes the idiots and slobs of society and puts them to good use, if not for walmart they would be on welfare because no one else would hire them.
There are many nice/smart/good people at walmart but there are even more complete dumbasses who don't want to do any work but still want to get a paycheck. This is where walmart comes in, they employ the dreggs(maybe a bit harsh) of society.
I also like the fact that the employees are lazy and stupid. There is nothing I hate more then walking into Best Buy and having all these people constantly come up to me asking if I need help and making suggestions. I walked into your store so I obviously know that I want and I don't need your help unless I want to be pointed in the right direction.
Walmart employs the unemployable and I thank them for it.

As long as they pay me my normal rate I would have no issues stocking shelves and sometimes while working I will pick stuff of the floor and toss it on the shelf.... you are volunteering there? So some occasional stocking, I need to use carts from time to time so I usually grab one in the parkng lot so I do some cart boy work for them too.

Perhaps he does work at a Wal-Mart on behalf of a third party external vendor? I know the music/game section is farmed out to Handleman to keep the music/games stocked/priced/etc. Maybe that's what he does.
As long as the market supports a Wal-Mart, I don't have a problem with it being there. Don't like them? Don't shop there. But don't force them to raise their costs, then in turn their prices, just cause you want to save some Wal-Mart employees. There are other ways to help people than to make others help them. Help them yourselves. . .
I don't agree with EA's business practices, but I don't preach, lobby and campaign to have them treat their games better (unless I'm asked to by the person who's gotta listen to it). The market supports a game company that destroys games, so be it. A new avenue will eventually open up to protect good games. If not, then the human race does not deserve good games. Or something.

Lets start with the dreggs. Most are part time employees and as such are given assistance from state and county for medical. So they are still on welfare just with a small check but still a drain on society just Walmart gets cheap help. So it looks like we are all paying higher prices by way of government holding them up.
Two: I shop Aldi's. They are none union. The difference is they had a choice and turned the union down. I respect that. Walmart puts every roadblock including firing people to stop a vote. That is just being a big fucking bully to make money.
Three: I didn't see mention of our small mom and pop store Rubbermaid of Ohio listed as a business put down by Walmart. Oh, is that because 300 people lost thier jobs because of the big bully.
Four: Pay your own bills. I'm not chipping in. It's not your wallet but your view on the dreggs you might want to think about.
My sister takes my wife to Walmarts. Fine, but don't whine at me to pay your bill when I refuse to shop there. I get tired of the people that are so happy go lucky Walmart is such a beautiful place people.

I never said it was the governments job. I said Walmart uses the rules to have part time employees that still get government assistance. So you get cheap grocerys but you are still supporting those that get assistance thro your tax dollars. So I think your net sum savings on grocerys is 0.
As for the fluffy clouds and crap. I think W is going to have our economy there before he leaves.

I prefer having the government cut those programs before I'll pay extra to make sure someone can afford whatever it is they need to afford.
Now Catt correct me if I'm wrong but the basic unit that drives an economy is the idea that a person will always act in their own self interest.
I want to pay less for groceries so I can have more money for expensive gasoline.
Walmart doesn't want to be shaken down by a union, so they fire anyone wanting a union. Good.
As for the poor, poor people who can't find work anywhere else so get hired on part time at walmart....... so? I guess they made some poor life decisions. I had nothing to do with that, and don't want to pay for it. And as soon as we can get government back down to the level envisioned by the founding fathers, it won't be my problem any more.
Until then, I am maximizing my food dollar at Wal-Mart.

Taking that a step backwards (from Gordo's comment) to fit our current system, I would rather help the ends meet with my tax dollars for a person that is gainfully employed rather than pay for someone to sit on their ass at home and do nothing. At least the person who is employed is contributing to society and the human race.
Not to mention, a person who is working is more likely to be spending their government money on food, utilities, and rent rather than "bling", gym memberships, cable TV, drugs, etc. (All the necessities a person on welfare needs...but that's another debate.)

From my point of view, I see no real difference between stealing my money to give to Wal-mart workers and stealing my money to give to the unemployed. In either case, someone is stealing my money.
