I don't think you should presume yourself so smart to put words in a dead man's mouth. A great dead man at that. Say what you want to say in your own words.

Based on the wack jobs speaking on 'King's behalf', I'm willing to bet MLK jr. is spinning in his grave. My favorite Nagin quote, 'God is mad at America'

I think you missed the sarcasm. By a mile.
My point was that MLK was trying to end segregation of all types, he wasn't looking for special privileges for black people, calls for a "chocolate New Orleans," etc. And all that shit was said on the man's holiday.
So I guess my deeper point is that Nagin is an ignorant jackass, as is anyone who still supports him.

Talk about putting words in a dead man's mouth...
Nagin described an imaginary conversation with King, the late civil rights leader.
"I said, `What is it going to take for us to move on and live your dream and make it a reality?' He said, `I don't think that we need to pay attention any more as much about other folks and racists on the other side.' He said, `The thing we need to focus on as a community - black folks I'm talking about - is ourselves.'"
Nagin said he also asked: "Why is black-on-black crime such an issue? Why do our young men hate each other so much that they look their brother in the face and they will take a gun and kill him in cold blood?"
The reply, Nagin said, was: "We as a people need to fix ourselves first."
Nagin also said King would have been dismayed with black leaders who are "most of the time tearing each other down publicly for the delight of many."
Why is it that the Nagin does it, but I get criticized for it?

It's the way God wants it to be.
How come every nut in the country gets to speak to him and I am always left on hold.

The best comment I have heard about the whole "chocolate New Orleans" thing is from Conan who said that the city would now be protected by graham cracker levees.

Right, just like the last ones built by the crackers. Can't truss 'em.

I just heard Nagin's speech this morning on the radio. The man is a racist moron as well as incompetent
Then again the mayor of Detroit is right up there. Not only is he a thug, a crook, rated one of the worst mayors in the country, but he is a racist as well. His family is just as bad. At a rally his father compared the scandals his son was involved in as similar to the lies the Germans told about the Jews and the Holocaust. His mother (a state rep) said they were trying to bring down "your boy" Her words not mine.
Yes he just got reelected. Right up there with Marion Barry.
I tell you it is sad to see the caliber of leaders that have come forth to represent African Americans. If they are poor leaders or get caught doing something wrong or illegal its not their fault its just the "Man" and White America trying to keep them down.

Well, duh. He is a registered democrat, after all. It sort of comes with the territory.
The plantation owners in the Old South made their living off the backbreaking labor of their slaves. But the majority of them weren't sadists but rather businessmen. They took care of their property as well as they needed to to keep them working efficiently. There were exceptions, but on the whole they did not intentionally make the slaves suffer, because that would be bad for business. It was certainly a horrible situation, but the horror was secondary to the dollar.
The modern Democratic party is, in my mind, much worse. They have enslaved the poor segments of our society for their own gain, enacting legislation that on the surface claims to be helping people but that are practically guaranteed to keep the poor as poor as ever. What makes this worse is that they make their living not off these people's labor, but direclty off their suffering. The more these people suffer, the better the Democrats' position.
I've tried for years to give the Democratic leadership the benefit of the doubt, and try to assume that they are just stupid and don't realize how completely counterproductive all their policies are. I can't anymore. Nagin's and Hillary's most recent drivel is the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm now convinced these people know exactly what they are doing: promoting human suffering for their own personal political gain. They disgust me mightily.

If MLK could be channeled and speak to us now he would say
"I had a dream! And it's as dead as I am"

"How do you make chocolate? You take dark chocolate, you mix it with white milk, and it becomes a delicious drink. That is the chocolate I am talking about," he said. "New Orleans was a chocolate city before Katrina. It is going to be a chocolate city after. How is that divisive? It is white and black working together, coming together and making something special."
That excuse ranks right up there with "It wasn't me."
