No word on who, but it sounds ilke the original estimate of 2 peeps dead may rise.

It's either G8-protestor-anarchists or fundamendtalists, i'm guessing.

Bet you cant guess which Im leaning towards.

When I typed this up there were already two reports that a cell of you-know-who had claimed responsibility.

Personally, I thought maybe it was the French pissed off over the Olympics.

There where a lot of LiveJournal photos about it today.

Hopefully they'll replace all those "old Italian woman selling a pile of Paris 2012 Olympic shirts for half price" images that came up yesterday. Oh, and that mutant dog that desperately needs euthanization.

The U.N. Security Council was expected to pass a resolution condemning the blasts later Thursday, an official said.

At least 40 people were killed, U.S. officials said, and more than 390 wounded in the terror attacks.
Thank God, the UN did that! I feel safer already.

IRS E-mail. Non-classified or secured, so I don't imagine I'm doing anything wrong by posting it:

In response to the events in London this morning and heightened security efforts in the United States, Mission Assurance and Security Services requested that we send the following message to all IRS employees.
__

As you are probably aware, there has been an increase in security and law enforcement presence throughout the nation. At this point in time, we are not aware of any direct threats against the Federal government or high interest areas in the U.S. However, the Department of Homeland Security has raised the threat level for mass transit systems throughout the nation to Orange or High.

The type of incident that occurred in London this morning serves as a reminder to all of us that we should all be familiar with our local Occupant Emergency Plans (OEPs). As always, we need to remain aware of our surroundings and immediately report any suspicious activity to law enforcement officials. If you notice any suspicious or unusual activities at or near your office, you should immediately contact your servicing security office. Please share this message with those who do not have access to email.

I just moved this topic, and made a front page post.

I want to repeat this sentence from the post:

Any ideology that can carry out, endorse, excuse, or ignore the deliberate murder of civilians, including women and children, in order to further their cause is sick and twisted, and the complete annihilation of that ideology is fully justified.

I think we should play the GB National Anthem at the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown.

We should do something to honor our friend's losses and to show support.

I just saw on the evening news that the U.S. State Department flew the Union Jack, today.

I approve.

Can anyone think of a way to make this statement more elegent and less clunky without losing the message? I'd like to give it a permanent spot on the front page.

People in London are returning to their daily routines despite police asking them to stay home.

Those terrorists really scared the people of London, huh?

The Britons have survived the Nazis bombing London. I don't think a couple of ragheads are going to scare them.

Oh shit! did I just say that out loud.

The other day I was channel surfing and caught some old (relatively) SNL.

It was from soon after 9/11.

It was a fake commercial for a fake airline... random airline employees standing against a dark background, bemoaning all the inconvenient security delays at all the OTHER airlines. They had a new, faster way to conduct security.... they called it "Racial Profiling."

A baggage handler gets the screen, he says, "They say that if we resort to racial profiling, then the terrorists have won. But why would the terrorists want racial profiling? That's how you catch them."

In reference to Brits going about their daily business:
“As Brits, we’ll carry on — it doesn’t scare us at all” said tour guide Michael Cahill, 37. “Look, loads of people are walking down the streets. It’s Great Britain — not called ’Great’ for nothing.”

Fuck yeah.

Ideologies facilitating wanton destruction and rampant murder of innocents are an affront to humanity & should be obliterated.
