It's too bad it went down that way. The kid obviously had no intentions of using his gun. The guy was able to draw and aim and all the kid did was go defensive. At least, no shots that I can see. Went down fast and hard. But, you know, you go that route, and bad shit's going to happen. If it wasn't that day, it would have been another.

The kid fucked up thinking he could take his eyes off the workers, let alone for that long. Not sure if that was stupidity or some level of false confidence from having brandished a gun before and seeing people's reaction?

I told my kid the other day, "Never give a person a second chance to kill you."

If there's a gun pointed at you, it isn't a game any more.

For law abiding people, yes. For criminals, it's also a tool to scare people into compliance. So you never need to intend to use it to still get your way. And ya. I'm thinking they just figured people would always do what they are told if they are holding a gun.

I imagine the kid's last word was 'wait', thinking he could talk himself out of the situation.
