Giving this a general title as we could easily post something here daily.
Parents ruin PEZ Easter event.
Some of the blame must be on PEZ. It's their event and they should have had crowd control in place.
However, the parents who let their kids grab eggs before the start, the parents who shoved kids aside, the parents who put themselves and/or their kids before everyone else as if they matter more, etc. all suck as parents and will raise assholes just like them.
These events are a nightmare. We attended one once before we knew better. It was the helicopter drop bullshit. I think our oldest was 3 at the time. The event was put on by the local government and was setup with good intentions, but like this event, broke down.
The setup had sections of the field for various age groups. VERY smart move.
They also had stations to ensure everyone got something and had people watching the ropes to make sure nobody went early. Again, well done.
Where it went wrong was that the sections didn't have a rope to close it off in back. So once the big kids clobbered their section, they went around the rope in back into the smaller kids' sections. To their credit, a lot of the workers, and parents, tried to stop them with some success.
I didn't see asshole parent behavior that day aside from positioning in line.
Long story short, if you can afford it, stay home and do a private egg hunt. You and your kid will be happier.
